Greater than one weekHeavy duty is an apt description for this cable. Im using it to secure a pasture gate with a serious padlock. Ive had a problem recently with some kids in the neighborhood wanting to come in and see the horses. Rather than have them arrested at 11 for trespassing, I am double securing the gate with this chain. (One at the bottom and one at the top) So far its not crimping or showing any wear after several days of rain. Bottom line is this works for my needs and parents need to teach their kids about private property.

> 3 dayNice length of sturdy cable for locking items in my covered truck bed. Used this on a cross country trip to secure my 2 generators and spare propane tank in my truck bed. The bed is covered with an aluminum bed cover, so my gear is out of sight. Anyone who wanted to steal my stuff could mangle the bed cover and cut the cable, but thieves tend to not steal what they dont see. And you wouldnt rip open the cover and cut the cable without me and the dog knowing it.

> 3 dayProviding security for your bike is like anything else, there are risks and trade offs. This product provides a decent level of security while at the same its not too heavy of bulky to carry and stow away. If I were securing my bike in a high crime area I would probably opt for something more heavy duty but for most normal areas such as a college campus this locking solution will keep you bike safe. Its long enough to secure to most posts going through the frame and the front wheel although it might be tough to secure two bikes at once if you are riding with a partner that does not have a lock. The bottom line is you cant go wrong with the Master Lock 85DPF as its well made and has a really nice weather resistant coating.

> 3 dayUsed this as a security cable for outdoor storage for my canoe. Great length, love the coating on the cable to keep it from rusting. Good value.

> 3 dayPurchased this cable to lock my row boat to the dock in order to keep the kids from taking the boat out. It is just the right length for my purposes and because it is covered in plastic, it will handle the outside elements for years.

> 3 dayGood for the price. Im using it to lock up a boat at a reservoir and it works fine. Plenty long enough to lock onto a tree. Also heavy enough to deter someone from stealing the boat unless they really want to, in which case no heavier cable is going to deter them, they will cut through anything if they really want to. I dont find very many steal small rowboats around here, its way too much trouble for very little gain. They are far more likely to smash a boat in which case a lock and cable wouldnt stop them.

Greater than one weekI needed a decent length cable to go with my 4 bike hitch carrier. While, as others have noted, any cable can be cut, this one will take some work. The cable is pretty stout to the point of being a bit difficult to maneuver. Still, once in place, it gives a good solid feel and the casing that protects the steel cable appears pretty thick and I expect it to hold up well.

> 3 dayThis cable is very heavy duty... more so than I expected when it was purchased. Still, that is probably good from a security standpoint. I would definitely not buy anything less than 8mm, and this 10mm isnt bad. I use it to lock my Nanuk (hard plastic) case when on job sites. Dont forget that any size cable is easily defeated with a pair of wire snips. The thicker ones just take more time to cut.
