> 24 hourThese painted wooden train cars were a gift for my preschool son and have held up well in play with his other wooden train set cars and track (Battat, IKEA, and Melissa and Doug). He is not always super gentle so the pieces must be durable. The designs are more detailed than some of his other train cars, so I would definitely consider gifting the set to another child.

> 24 hourI compared train pieces from different manufacturers forever and eventually settled on these ones from Melissa & Doug. They arent as expensive as the Thomas ones and they arent as cheapily constructed as some of the knock off brands. They are good in color and weight, the construction of the base pieces seems solid, and they hold up to my rough and tumble boys. The magnetic attachments are fantastic and easy to use. My kids have a lot of fun playing with these. The only criticism I have is one that seems to show up in a good handful of reviews. The wheels. They arent as sturdy as I would like and they dont move as smoothly around the track as my TODDLER would like. If you hook up a couple of cars youll probably be okay, but with a longer string, youre going to lose cars around the curves and your poor train is going to be a derailed mess...as will likely be your melting down mini-engineer. These do fantastic on a straight track or a nice, easy oval, but any kind of s curve can be a bit of a headache. For the parent of a kid who likes to make hills, this has been an ongoing struggle, but hes learning to work with the kinks in the design. Overall, were happy with these train cars, but if a redesign occurs...please for the love of all things toddler, fix the wheels.

> 24 hourMy 2 year old became obsessed with trains so we bought her this for Christmas. She loves them! Plays with them often. The magnets on them are such a nice feature

> 24 hourThis was my 2 year olds very 1st train set, which hes been loving and very excited about! However, he does have trouble keeping the pieces together since the magnets arent all that strong. Also, my son, like me, is very OCD about things... so right off the bat he was very upset/confused as to where the 9th train piece was. I dont think he realized one of the slots had been empty when he first opened it, so when he cleaned up he was very mad that he couldnt find the last piece (which didnt exist). With that said, I think it is VERY dumb to create this toy with 9 slots but only 8 pieces. Either rethink the storage/packaging or simply just add a 9th train car piece!

> 24 hourI really like this toy, but why are there 8 pieces in a container with 9 spots..? It just bugs me and my son always thinks one is missing. Otherwise I love this train set!

> 24 hourI bought this for my 3 yr old nephew as a gift. He loves it. He likes lining up the trains and pulling them along the floor. They are also very well made like all toys by Melissa & Doug.

> 24 hourThese are really well made. BUT they tip over way too easy. They’re top heavy and curves take them out with ease. Be prepared to have an extremely frustrated toddler if you buy these. If you’ve already bought them and going through this frustration with your tiny human I have taught mine how to use his fire truck to respond to the derailments. It’s helped immensely.
