So, I just got this, then I updated the software and added it into homekit. Then I commanded it to different levels while measuring the voltage. There are a few problems. 1. Commanding it to 0% is the same as commanding it to 1%. Which is to say, it does not turn off, and I think you should expect it too turn off in this case. The measured voltage in that case is still 30V. Thankfully, the light on the controller stays on, so its not actually misleading. 2. You cannot turn it off by pushing the button. At all. You can cycle through various power levels (which is neat) but theres no button combination that results in it being OFF. Or maybe there is and I havent found it. I havent read the directions, but I dont think I should have to read the directions in order to turn an electric power socket / controller with ONE button OFF. Okay, I just found it. You double-press the button for OFF. This is bad design.

Liked the unit, however we need a unit similar to others I have seen where the outputs are spread out so small transformer plugs can be installed. Another feature we need on these is dimmer switch models, why?, outdoor lighting and fans in gazebo, outdoor string lighting for dinners or entertainment.

This handy device is just what the doctor ordered for our outdoor Christmas lights. In the past we have used a timer with a dusk sensor. The problem was when a cars headlights hit the sensor it would shut off the Christmas lights, thinking it was daytime. We also had a problem with our outdoor lights, and our spotlights, fooling the sensor. This device, being connected to the internet, knows when sunset is, so it bases its schedule on that rather than a light sensor. It has worked like a champ. Setup was fairly simple if you follow the directions carefully (I didnt at first). I havent tested Google Assistant nor Alexa functionality so I cant comment on that. Weve had it outside for several weeks and it has performed flawlessly.

Setup was a breeze and it just works - both as a timer and as an Alexa powered device. I set it up on a spare bedroom lamp and named it Lamp, which seemed logical at the time, but now when I see how easy it was too set up and how well it works, I may purchase a couple of more for other lights around the house. So, consider what you name it when you set it up.

I set my Eero network temporarily to 2.4 ghz, and the Meross smart dimmer plug installed without any problems. It also connected fine to HomeKit. While the Meross plug didnt connect right away to Alexa, after the 10 minute period where Eero was on the slower 2.4 ghz network, the Meross plug immediately connected to Alexa as soon as Eero was back to 5 ghz. Based on other reviews, I was worried Id have setup problems. But no problems at all. So far all good. I had previously been using a TP-Link Kasa smart dimmer, which was ok but which had no HomeKit support. I need both HomeKit and Alexa support, so thats why I tried the Meross. There is, however, one problem. The Meross will not dim my 5-bulb LED lamp as low as the Kasa dimmer. I updated firmware and ran the compatibly test in the Meross app and set the minimum brightness to 1%. Even at that setting, it is much brighter than the Kasa dimmer at 1%. At the same time, when the Kasa dimmer was set to 1%, the lamp wouldnt turn on, so thats not great either. I had to turn the Kasa dimmer to 10% to get the lamp to turn on, and then dim it down to 1%. But even at 10%, the Kasa dimmer is less bright than the Meross at 1%. So, I am dinging the Meross dimmer 1 point for not being able to dim as low as the Kasa. But, there are very few HomeKit + Alexa compatible smart dimmers that support lamps with a 3-prong plug: Meross and the poorly reviewed and more $$$ Legrand. Lutrons smart dimmer would work except it only handles 2-prong lamps. If you want HomeKit and Alexa integration, and you can accept the limitation of not being able to dim LED bulbs as far down as other dimmers, the Meross is hard to beat, especially for the price.

It took a separate app to configure but was easy enough to configure. It works well but it took a few extra steps to configure and that is then only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars.

For years when Ive talked to people about smart home outlets, Ive explained that they have two states: on and off, and they cant be used as dimmers. Well here comes Meross to make me a liar, and pull off a dimmable outdoor smart plug. Based on other reviews here, I picked this up to dim my LED café string lights which when fully lit would light up the neighbors yards on three sides of me. The plug works better than I expected. It allows me to bring them down to a nice moody level, plus with Apple Home support I can use Siri to specify a percent to dim the lights to without getting up from my lawn chair. I wish it had more than one outlet, and it would be nice if Meross started shipping products with Thread/Matter, but its a great start and I hope to see these things added in future versions.

I purchased two of these because of the Apple HomeKit integration. We recently switched over to Full Wave Rectified (non flicker) LED lights for our Christmas Tree, and were a little surprised by the brightness. We wanted a softer look. The Meross Smart Dimmer Plug worked with HomeKit effortlessly, and works with Full Wave Rectified LED lights. We have our LED lights now set at 30% when it is dark out, and they look just like our old incandescent mini lights. Great smart dimmer! (We also have on on our mini tree in our front window. We will definitely be purchasing more of these if we move to LED lights outside.)
