> 3 dayIt does and is everything it claims to be and appears sturdy and well made. A 5th start if they figure out a better way to protect the plugs when not being used. The current solution is a rubber insert (like a child-protection plug) that is connected between the plugs. When 1 plug is in use, its fine, but when you attempt to plug in a 2nd plug, the rubber protectors make it much harder than it should be. It DOES work...but not as well as it could.

Greater than one weekI have had the outdoor switch running now for a couple months with no issues. BTW, kudos to Meross for great customer support. A dimmer switch (MSS560) purchased in May, 2019 became intermittent in February 2020 and then failed to connect but still worked manually. I contacted Meross customer support with an offer to send the switch back for troubleshooting if they were interested in doing a teardown not expecting anything else. I was told that warranty was for one year and if I would email an Amazon receipt they would send a replacement. The replacement arrived and is working fine. I did not even have to send the failed switch back. I have multiple Meross Smart Switches in our house working now for over a year and this was the first and only failure.

Greater than one weekFor those of you having difficulty getting this smart plug to work on your router or need a Mac Address to connect it to your router, check to see if Mac Filtering is enabled on your router. It may have a similar name other than Mac Filtering, but you will need to disable it. Once disable, go through the instructions on the Merross app on your smart phone or iPhone to install the smart plug. Once it is installed (shouldnt take long), you can go to the plug in the app and get the plug info from the app... the Mac Address will be there. Then you can add the Mac Address to your router filter, enable Mac Filtering on the router and then it will take a few minutes, but you should be good to go. Its a hassle, but it works. For those using Alexa, I havent figured that part out yet, but it still needs to be installed first using the instructions above before you can add it to your Alexa.

> 3 dayI bought this to control a pond pump outside. In my experience the thing that distinguishes Meross wireless switches from others is the ease and peace-of-mind of connecting it to your wireless network. First you install the Meross app on your phone (in my case an iPhone). When the switch receives power for the first time, it creates its own temporary local WiFi network whose name will be something like Meross_SW_abc123. You connect your phones wifi to this network, and the Meross app connects to the switch over that network. Then you tell the app which home network you want the switch to connect to under normal operation, and the password for that network. And then youre done. For folks like me, who want to be careful to keep their smart devices on a separate Guest network because you dont 100% trust them and dont want them to be able to talk to your home intranet, this setup lets you do that. You never have to enter in your main home network credentials. This is in contrast to some other smart switches Ive seen that are very unclear about which network they need and why. The WiFi signal is good too. My switch is plugged in outside about 100 feet from the router. According the the Meross app the signal strength is at 20%. But I havent had any problems controlling it.

> 3 dayAfter connecting to the device wifi my iPhone just couldn’t connect to the dimmer. I spent one hour trying to get everything to work and it just didn’t. Very frustrating experience. Will return.

> 3 dayIt took a separate app to configure but was easy enough to configure. It works well but it took a few extra steps to configure and that is then only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars.

21-11-2024Hooked it up for our outdoor Christmas display and set it on a timer. Worked like a charm and fairly easy to do. Very pleased with it. Can see us using it over and over again.

> 3 dayThis Smart Plug controller is great. It was fast and easy to set up. I put it on my 2.4 GHz guest wifi, and it connected on the first try. I have other Meross devices too. I have 2 wifi garage door controllers which also work very well. I recommend this controller.

> 3 dayI bought this smart plug to control some patio lights that I have outside. I also wanted to integrate it with an Alexa device that I have set up downstairs in the kitchen. The Meross plug is located downstairs and outside from where my wi-fi router actually sits which is in my upstairs bedroom closet. I was a bit concerned because of the number of walls and the distance that the signal would have to travel in order to activate the plug. I have had issues with other smart devices in the past. Not this one though. So far, the plug has worked flawlessly and I have had no disconnects. Even when the power went out for a short time, there was nothing that I had to do to reconnect the smart plug. The integration with Alexa has also been excellent with absolutely no issues. Alexa turn off/on the patio lights is all it takes. Home automation gadgets are great provided they arent a PITA to set up or maintain. This Meross Smart Plug has been an excellent example of the way things should work otherwise just flipping the switch outside would be a lot easier and less frustrating. This device is worth a try and because it hasnt been frustrating Im considering some other devices by these folks. like their garage door opener.
