> 3 dayFirst off I have to say that I was given these plugs as a promotional item for my honest opinion and review. This will be a pretty long review but it does have a somewhat happy ending. The Meross Mini Smart plugs do live up to their name and are small enough to easily fit 2 on a standard dual outlet wall plug. The Apple Home integration was a simple and very straightforward process. All 4 plugs show up and can easily be controlled in the Home app. With that being said, the integration into the Meross app, Alexa and SmartThings was extremely frustrating but I was eventually able to get the plugs fully functional in Apple Home, the Meross app, Alexa and SmartThings. I do not have or use Google Assistant so I cannot speak to that aspect of the integration process. I initially used the Meross app for the setup and by just following the prompts was easily able to integrate all 4 plugs into Apple Home. But, after that, I could not get them to show up in any other app including the Meross app itself. Eventually I stumbled upon a method of installation that worked for me and finally allowed full functionality in Apple Home, Meross, Alexa and SmartThings. With the Meross app already installed and after factory resetting the plugs I initially set them up using Apple Home directly by scanning the QR code for each plug. After getting them all set up in Apple Home, I opened the Meross app, tapped the “+” in the upper right to add devices and Meross found the 4 plugs. I was then able to add them to both Alexa and SmartThings. They all seem to be functioning just fine in all 4 apps except for the fact that the Meross app does not usually show the correct state of the plug when they are controlled by any of the other apps but all of the other apps show the correct state when a plug is controlled by the Meross app. If the Meross app is closed and then opened again it will show the correct state for the plug. So, at this point I would rate the physical plugs as a 5 but because of the software issues and having to jump through hoops to finally get things up and seemingly working as advertised I can only grudgingly give the Meross HomeKit version Mini Smart Plugs an overall 4 star rating but for the price and functionality in the many different apps i would highly recommend giving them a try.

> 3 dayHomeKit smart plugs are a blessing and a curse sometimes. When they set-up correctly the first time and just work it is awesome. Other times, they are a pain. Since I have a mesh Orbo network, I sometimes get the curse result. With no simply way to turn off the 5G network, any HomeKit plugs that need the 2.4 network can be trouble to get setup. Ive had more pain with iHome plugs than any. So I tried these a while back. I liked them so much Ive twice bought more of them and retired the iHome plugs permanently. I have a total of 14 and ten connected via the Apple Home app immediately. The other 4 took a couple of resets, lowering the power of my mesh network 5G side to make everything connect to the 2.4 network. But, bottom line is they work and they havent dropped off or disappeared from HomeKit or show no response like iHome did. I also own their outdoor plugs and no issues there either. Bottom line, they work!

Greater than one weekDisappointed. It is advertised as works with HomeKit and Hub not needed, but those are inclusive. That is simply for turning it off and on. In order to program/automate through HomeKit a HomeKit Hub (Like AppleTV or HomePod) IS required. You used to also be able to use an iPad as a hub, but that is no longer supported by Apple either in the latest update (16.2). You can use the Meross app without a hub for automation, but that isnt HomeKit.

14-06-2025UPDATE Nov 15, 2021: these have started working with HomeKit and Siri again. I don’t know why they stopped or started working again. Fortunately they’ve been working for a couple months now, so I’m leaving them alone. They all say they have an update available but given the problems I’ve had Im hesitant to update them. When I work up the courage I’ll try the update and edit my review again. UPDATE Jan 27, 2021: I had purchased 8 of these and all eight have stopped working with Apple HomeKit. They all work with the Meross app but none via Siri or the Home app. That completely defeats the purpose of having them, as I wanted them to work with my Apple stuff. Given that all 8 of them stopped working at the same time after working fine for weeks, I suspect that it is a firmware problem, or Apple released an update that the outlets have not caught up with yet. Its been over a week since they broke so Im feeling a bit discouraged that they may never work again. Hopefully the seller updates these or theyre basically a waste. Note that they work fine with the Meross app, and if you click the button on the side of them. They just dont connect to Apple HomeKit anymore. Cant use the Apple Home app or Siri, or any of the automation that HomeKit provides. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My primary requirement was Apple HomeKit / Siri without paying too much. These fit the bill perfectly. So far they are reliable and work well. The Apple TV in our home acts as the hub. My only complaint is that sometimes these outlets complain of needing a firmware update, but when I open the app and go to the firmware update section, nothing needs updated. Fortunately, those messages have dropped off the past week, but the first week of ownership they were pestering me multiple times per day despite no firmware update being available.

> 3 dayThese are best of breed - but concerns about the source made me queasy - so deleted the app and use as mechanical switches via the activation buttons. True, it robs them of IP capability and iPhone switching but I feel better - and I’m including the Homekit versions - they’re “compatible” - but not made by . True, my iPhone’s always on the 5GHz network so I need to switch networks back to 2.4GHz to access this - which pretty much obviates its use - but except for my TV inside a cabinet, all my other switches are ‘walk up’ in plain sight and the soft touch switch aspect is a pleasure to use for turning on or restarting devices - which TV needs all too often. BTW, I’m a Meross fan due to their little wood cabinet clock - which makes a great gift.

> 3 dayIts easy to install into a Meross network and easy to integrate into my Google Home net.

> 3 dayI had a plug before that the app no longer worked with my Apple integration, so tried this one. It was easy to install, but there was slight confusion between using the Meross app or Apple Home. Perhaps if there is a newer version of the app you would be able to tick a box to use one or the other and keep it that way to avoid the confusion.

> 3 dayHad another brand I got from a friend and they weren’t that reliable or hooked up to Apple HomeKit. These do and they are so fast! There’s no delay when pressing the button on my iPhone. Love that! Would highly recommend if you are looking to get your house outlet plugs hooked up with HomeKit for cheap.
