I was able to press my gear off with a drill press and some creativity with supports under the gear and a punch in the chuck, I also dremeled a flat spot on the shaft to accept the grub screw. Also does anyone know what the exact filament color/brand/and material of the red printed spacer supplied is? Thanks.

retracting hot filament causes the filament to cool in the throat which immediately clogs it. some people online suggest seasoning it like a cast iron skillet, but I have seen no instructions from microswiss on doing this. If there is a solution microswiss, please let me know, I would love to find out that this is user error so I can change this review, I want, so badly, to love this product, but currently, it is absolutely unusable.

We have had this item replaced due to clogging. Within the last two prints, the replacement device has clogged multiple times. Checked the hot end temps and compared to the filaments utilized. Temps/temp preferences matched.

I bought this for higher temp plastic. It works well and has yet to clog. Im not seeing any improvement in print quality over the original or another direct-drive kit. I am happy to not have clogs with the higher temp plastic (PETG v. PLA).

This was one of those improvements that I curse myself for not doing sooner. I upgraded to the microswiss as it seems to back the classic tried and true direct drive setup with the only downside of adding a bit more weight, though I already added a second z screw so that hasnt been an issue for me. The only downside of this hotend is it can cause a bit of ringing though that can be clean up with input shaping ( assuming your running klipper- why wouldnt you?). I can run max speeds of 120mms and 250mms infill and get quality prints when printing at .16 layer height with a .4mm nozzle. The microswiss nozzle included is still serving me well many months later and my machine runs almost every day. My only regret is that eventually I wanted to do linear rails and this specific x gantry mount is only compatible with rollers for if that is something you are interested in I would recommend upgrading to linear rails first and buying the other hotend by microswiss that supports them.

Takes a while to get the hang of the direct drive but works well.

This is single-handedly the best upgrade for the cr10s pro v1. Hands down…. Make sure your esteps are set properly, and pair this with solid bed mounts and a bl touch. Game changer for cr10’s!!!

works great on replacement for ender 3 pro. also had the hole predrilled to install BL touch. Thing to remember is to down load the firmware to change the gear/ratio to 130 to prevent over/under extruding.

I installed this on my Creality Ender 3 v2. Installation was straight forward and well documented with photos. You have to download a PDF from the micro swiss site, as no paper instructions are included, but this wasnt an issue for me. It would have been nice if some of the hardware was included in the kit (bolts etc), but you can reuse some from your stock Creality hot end to get the job done. Unfortunately, this kit is not compatible with the ender 3 v2 fan assembly without printing a fan shroud. Not a huge deal, but still something I wish I had noticed prior to buying this kit. I dont know what they are thinking recommending the fan shroud to be printed in PLA, as mine (printed in petg) is getting decently hot. Maybe if you are only using the hot end to print low temperature materials, this would be fine. The extruder and the hot end are working really well. The direct drive gears fit perfectly, pulling the filament smoothly during printing and retractions. The hot end seems to be performing well without any appreciable heat creep towards the extruder (at least in the ~20 hrs of printing Ive done @245C). I did have to raise my printing temperature to get the same results using this all metal hot end, but that is something that is suggested in the instructions. The major issue I have with this is that the stainless steel nozzle that this comes with seems to stick really badly to petg compared to other nozzles I have used. Petg tends to be a pain as far as globbing up on nozzles of certain material, so I guess thats okay. I just wish it had come with maybe a spare nozzle of a different material at this price point. Some of the machined parts had a few deep scratches and gouges in them, which isnt pretty, but I dont think it will affect the performance of this assembly. I might end up getting a different hot end and extruder setup for my next printer, as there are a decent number of quality options around this price point. The ease of installation is definitely what made me decide to buy this, as its nearly a drop in replacement for the printers its compatible with. Overall, I do not regret this purchase at all, but I do think there is room for improvement in the parts included.

Got this for my Ender 3 Pro. Followed some of the instructions for a bit then I realized that if I did the assembly according to their pdf everything would be messed up. Had to guess how things come together (Some, not all.) The parts included are for the extruder stepper motor which is depicted (in their install) as having an easy to remove head. Well... After bending the shaft trying to get the sob out, I can tell you it is not easy to do it. So yes, you will have to modify your stepper motor, there is none coming with this kit. I believe this will be a good upgrade for my printer but the documentation, the main product picture (2nd picture is accurate) depicting a stepper motor are all garbage for the pro version ( hey, docs may be great or other printer types). So, is it a good kit? Sure looks like that. Will update but the -1.5 stars are just for my case of not being satisfied with price/product ratio ( no stepper motor - which is basically the fine print but it is there in the description) not satisfied with documentation and not happy with having to destroy a stepper motor that came with the printer or buy a separate one with the naked shaft. Update: NOT their fault since instructions are for Creality extruder motors replacements that have a different shaft than the original one. So be careful getting the gear out or save yourself a headache by purchasing a replacement motor. As can be seen in the pictures one motor has a crease while the original is round.

Disclaimer:

We notice a recent extruder stepper motor update on Creality machines. Before ordering this kit, please check your extruder stepper motor. If your extruder motor gear is pressed in, you will need to purchase a new stepper motor to be able to complete the installation.
