Dogs were fighting in front of their crates so I tried this gate and it’s perfect

We bought this gate to keep our new puppy confined to a certain area. The gate is adjustable and fit the doorway perfectly! The puppy is safe and we are happy. It is very easy to use the door as we are in and out of the area frequently.

This gate is well made overall and serves its purpose just. For me, the purpose was to keep some rooms off limits from our new dog. The issue I have is that I bought two within about a month of each other. As you can see from the photos I attached, one handle has an angle to it whereas the other is more square. The version with the angled handle shuts and opens far more smoothly. I frequently find myself fumbling with the latch of the square version to ensure it is fully latched. Obviously, this is not ideal. The version with the square latch was the second one I received, but I cannot tell if it is an older or newer design. It is certainly the inferior version and had I received it first, wouldnt have bought it again. Overall, the version with the angled handle is 5 star and the square handle is a 2-3 star item at best, especially given the price. I didnt return it only because my application is not as critical as keeping a toddler from falling down a flight of stairs.

We tried several gates for our very wide stairs and they either werent sturdy enough when expanded as wide as our stairs or were inconvenient to handle. We ended up with two of these, one at the top and bottom of the stairs. The gate walk through is so easy to use. We originally bought one to test then purchased a second after we found it worked in our space. The second gate came with a slightly different locking mechanism on top but other than that it was the same. The hardware installation is very sturdy! I was really hesitant about the top of the stairs and it was a big reason why other gates didnt work out because they just didnt feel supportive enough. This one is definitely the best out of the lot we tried. We did not do the hardware installation on the bottom of the stairs and just used the pressure mounts but I think the hardware mount is the best. The cups will start moving a bit with constant pulling from kids. Our top mounts slid a bit but easily go back in place. Overall, we are happy with these gates!

This is a sturdy, well-built gate. I bought one a few years ago (a different brand) that was hard to install and I couldn’t ever get the gate to close properly. This one had great directions, was built and packaged nicely, and works wonderfully. I’ve had it installed for a week so I will update this review if anything changes.

I tried the no hardware option first (comes with hardware if needed) because I really didn’t want holes in the wall. If I didn’t feel it was safe enough though, I would have drilled the holes. But my husband and I agree it’s sturdy enough to keep our 2 year old in and safe on the 2nd floor of our home! It’s been on for 2 weeks now with us opening and closing the door and it’s still in it’s same place (I’ve been checking constantly). It will only budge if I bend my knees and push all my body weight on it, and by budging, it will veeeery slowly slide. We keep a close eye on our toddler regardless and do not let her stand on the bars or pull on it. I feel confident this gate is going to work perfect for the amount of years we will need it for. TIP - if you tighten up the top bar too tight, the door is will not open or shut like it’s suppose to. I had to loosen the top a little more than I wanted and the top is the only part that slides (with all my weight on it). I refused to go too loose on it (seriously was fighting for the no holes!) so the door opens and shut but will only shut when we put a little more pressure on it. If I loosen the bars more, then the “90 degree feature” will work. But that feature does not work perfectly with the tightness I have on it now unless we slam it shut. It’s working well so far for us. Not a burden. The bottoms bars though! You can tighten those up as hard as you want! Those bars are not sliding anywhere!

I found this product challenging to install (we are using tension and not screws to hold it in place). Our dogs have knocked it off once and it’s challenging to reinstall and get right. It does the job but only if our dogs don’t really test it.
