> 3 dayIts a great scanner, but the input screen is WAY too small. And currently they are having issues with their new web based software crashing with Mac. I contacted them and they confirmed it. Its crashing on both of my MacBook Airs. Also, if would be really good if you could add email addresses in the web app that would show up in the scanner for convenience of scanning to email addresses. This would prevent you from having to input on that tiny screen with your fingers. Its really easy to hit the wrong buttons. That part was really not well planned, but Im assuming its a pretty easy fix in the software.

> 3 dayThis scanner is a complete piece of crap. It worked for about 3 days, kind of. It does not auto populate anything correctly. It doesnt scan business cards well at all. You have to review and fix every single item you put through the thing. On top of that my scanner completely stopped connecting to wifi. Ok, Ill reconnect it right? Wrong! Every time I go to the setting it gives me a message that tells me that this is where I choose a wifi network and then it kicks me back out to the previous screen without ever giving you a choice of a network!!!!!! On top of that the computer application is now completely blank! Just a white screen! Next step is contacting customer support right? Wrong! You have to pay for customer support!!!! The piece of crap neat connect thing even gave me a phone number to call at one point which I called and fought with a terrible automated system for 15 minutes going in circles only to have it hang up on me! So I sent an email on the 21st of June and it is now the 27th and I still havent gotten a response! The online chat doesnt work, its only for them to sell you customer service and more crappy add ons. Basically any product that ever charges you for support probably sucks and is going to need it. Save your money and get something that works and isnt a complete scam!

> 3 dayFirst and foremost, if you want to use this scanner with your business or in an enterprise environment, just dont do it... In fact if you want to use this more than about 12 times in a year it is NOT the right scanner for you! We have 2 of them being used in an enterprise environment and theyre both dreadful devices. This is a poorly constructed, poorly programmed piece of consumer level garbage. Its so slow at times you must wait 15-20 seconds for the display to react to touch input, some of its settings get wiped if it gets rebooted and as a added bonus it jams up at least once a week... Like bad jam that requires tools and lots of time to fix. And the icing on the cake? Ive seen companies with bad customer service or support, this company has no customer service or support. I tired calling the number and their cumbersome phone system just hangs up on me because it cant find my account... Cool. Done with this garbage.

> 3 dayLots of promises regarding what it can do, however I was not impressed with the software to the point of justifying the price - Also some key features and options one has to pay a monthly payment to be able to use them. Considering the price of the device its somewhat ludicrous to still expect the buyer to commit to pay a monthly fee to access said features. After a few of weeks, unimpressed by the performance I returned the device. Dont even miss it

> 3 dayUPDATE: I have now had it for about two years! I love it. You do have to pay extra for the storage on neat desk but I just have my files go directly to my dropbox or email address as pdf instead. It is great for my real estate documents, saving warranty papers etc. My fax/scanner/copier is so much slower and will not handle near the workload of this scanner. I am very happy that I have it and although it was pricy I probably would have spent a lot more trying to find other scanners to match the speed. It is small, easy to set up and you can move it around if that makes your life easier. I usually just keep mine in the study but I could put it by the mail or other areas that I use frequently. TIP: When doing documents like real estate contracts of 20plus pages you can reduce to 150dpi and are able to fit in a pdf file that emails can handle. If you scan larger files they get kicked out. Still alot more than you could have ever done with a multi machine and at very fast speeds. CONS: I havent found it to be awesome with photos. I mean I may not be doing it correctly but I think my HP multi machine does better in that aspect. I have both so it really isnt an issue for me. The buttons on the screen alpha numeric are tiny. I have skinny fingers but I still use a stylus to set up email addresses. Once set up and in address books it is much easier. FIRST WEEK REVIEW BELOW: Have had it a week and so far I love it. It is easy to scan in. Had a couple glitches where it would need to be turned on then back on to see paper but Im sure Ill figure that out. Easy to set up wifi in my office and portable enough to take home and use as well. Have done photos and paperwork, receipts and business cards with easy so far.

Greater than one weekThis was a great product combined with the Neat Receipts desktop software and the they decided to water it down with forcing users to use Neat Cloud. This is a case of good company too arrogant for their own good. The last desktop version is slim down of neat cloud. Here are the top issues. 1. No, you cannot use files created by previous versions. Have to import everything. 2. The software fails to scan and OCR a single document, yes just 1 page document 3. Ah the import, does not work. It may show something imported but no psd files 4. There is is no way you can add custom columns to see complete information. You have to open each individual line item and fill in the fields. That too has limitations as all the fields are not visible and you have to click again to open that view. Now why would you take a functional in-line editing and make adding I formation almost impossible. 5. You cannot add one note or some times one drive could account b/c they keyboard never shows up. I loved this software and my neat scanner since it was a useful tool to run my business. I would gladly pay subscription fee as well but at least there should be some useful functionality. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone who wants to get any work done.

> 3 dayThe scanner never worked. I didnt open the box until after the 60 day period but I wasnt overly concerned because I had purchased the additional 2-year warranty. When I did open the box I found that I could not get past the initial set-up screen. I go through the set-up and get to the screen that says, Scan. I hit the Scan button and ... nothing. The screen is greyed out and there is no way to back out of that screen or do anything other than power down the machine. When you turn it back on, its Groundhogs Day, you start the set-up process all over again and the same thing happens every time that you hit, Scan. Its a scanner that cant scan. There is no Customer Support available through Neat. I tried to use the 2-year warranty that I purchased but it doesnt cover products that didnt work from day 1. If it never worked then you have to take up your complaint directly with the manufacturer but, guess, what? Youll never get in touch with the manufacturer. They dont have an 800 number. Thats right, its 2015 and they dont have a way to call them. When I try to send an email to Customer Support, I get an error message. When I looked at the Site Map to find a number for Customer Support the only page for Customer Support is a page of reviews of their Customer Support and how wonderful it is. What? How can it be wonderful? I cant get to it. I literally have to junk a brand new, fresh-out-of-the-box machine - a machine for which I paid nearly $500. Its insane.

> 3 dayIt is actually not the scanner I hate but the software. It does not read and interpret the information well. When exporting a file from neat to my computer as a pdf file 50% of the time I end up with a blank page that when I try to open it I get a message saying there is an error on the page. It makes more work rather than less. Extremly upset that I spent all this money on this piece of junk.

05-04-2025Initially this worked great. It really helped me to go paperless and move everything to the cloud...until a couple of months ago it stopped being able to upload to Evernote. Apparently a lot of people are having the same problem because the discussion boards are full of some really upset people. The company isnt very good at communicating what they are doing to fix the problem or if they are doing anything to fix the problem. Emails to them only generate canned responses.
