After two years, I discovered by accident that the ball valves would not close. This is a fatal defect. I traced the issue to two factors. 1) A spring is used to close the valve. Since the valve has been open for a long period, the spring is no longer strong enough to close the valve. 2) The controller does not exercise the value on a regular basis. Thus, the valve may end up stuck open or require a very large force to overcome resistance and close. I found a competitors product at the same price which does not have these issues. It is motor driven for both open and close. It has battery backup which solves the power failure situation without using a spring. It opens and closes the valve every 30 days. All really great ideas. Dont buy this valve. Get the one that really stops floods.

My washer is on the second floor in my home. I have it in a drain pan with this sensor in it. Last week the washer started leaking and this device did it’s job perfectly.

I live in a townhouse where water damage can be very costly not only to my own property but also to the adjacent units around me. I know this firsthand when my neighbors water heater leaked and damaged our drywall and carpet. Most water damage start out undetected and almost invisible behind walls and appliances such as refs and washers. So one way of getting ahead of the game is to get informed and stop the problem right away as soon as it occurred. These automated valves are perfect for the job. Dont find out in the hard and costly way. Get these early warning/prevention system now. Highly recommended.

Our washer and dryer are on the second floor, so a flood would be a two floor event. This product brings a piece of mind. Installed easily.

Thankfully have not had a real life incident. :) Good investment if you have washer dryer above your living room.

I received a defective unit that triggered a false alarm, and the system wont reset itself. I contacted the customer service that put me in touch with the engineers responsible for designing the unit. They were very helpful, sent me two new units via overnight shipping. Unfortunately, the new unit also has the same issue - triggered a false alarm and wont reset. The problem is that without reset, water wont turn on. There is no way to overwrite the command. I am going to stop using it and may be even get a new unit. I couldnt be more pleased with the customer service but this product is not ready for consumers at this point.

Installed very easily. I tested it for proper operation after install and everything worked perfectly. I test this thing every so often and the last time I tested it was after approximately 7 months of use. One of the two valves no longer closes. Not even during a power failure. This thing cost a lot of money for something that stops working after a few months. I should have just purchased a main line shutoff valve and integrated into a Smartthings leak detector.

Works as expected. Came in a nice little box with everything you need minus the drill which is optional. At first we didnt know why it wasnt working but be sure to hit the reset button once its all setup and on. I have this on my third floor so a simple alarm and the time it takes to get someone to come turn it off is just not enough. Knowing that this is there brings me peace of mind. I should also note that this valve defaults to off unless there is electrical current going towards the solenoids to keep the valve on or open. Meaning if power goes out, the current stops, which emulates a water leak and washer/dryer = off. Unless you plan on losing power or you live in one of those places its not a big deal.

Turned on water after hooking up, water started spraying everywhere. Hose bib hookup failed prior to shutoff valve, on cold side. Hot side fell apart in my hand on removal. Do not buy.
