> 24 hourI am very disappointed with this unit. After reading the positive reviews I had expectations that the picture quality would be good for use in a golf simulator, gaming and movies. I’m projecting it onto a large screen but colors are washed out even at small screen sizes and worse the image has a grid line on it as if I’m looking through a screen door. This happens with image sizes over 80 inches. I called tech-support and I was on hold for about 30 minutes and gave up and just left a message. I emailed them as well and never heard back. A few days later I called again and the agent said I should take the picture out of focus so the lines are not as noticeable! Ridiculous. Just paid nearly $1000 for a projector that’s supposed to be high definition and now he’s telling me to take it to a focus that makes it look like an old tube TV from the 1980s. I had someone over to see the setup and they said “ I think your projector is in test mode I can see gridlines on the screen.” Going to look for another brand projector.

> 24 hourFor the price this a great projector that supports 4K @ 60Hz. There is a color wave that runs across the screen but you have to really look for it. Overall the projector is definitely one to invest in because for the price it has really good specifications versus the higher priced projectors. Projector is very bright in a well lit room, and performs well with gaming!

> 24 hourArrived not working, Constant flickering on power up. Continuous flickering with nothing attached to HDMI. Horrible support from Optoma manufacturer and Amazon Services. Terrible service on both ends. Stay away.

> 24 hourThere could be two reviews for this one. When I fiest opened it and try it I was very happy for the price and quality of picture that I had. Unfortunately after one week the hdmi1 stopped working suddenly a purple led came up and the controller didn’t worked. I tried some customer support but their directions wasn’t helping so I decided to return this product. After looking the market I feel I want to give this another try ordering a new one because like I said, I was happy with the first outcome, so I’m crossing my fingers it was a bad unit and give this another try. Hopefully I can comeback in couple of months and do an update. I would recommend this letting people know is a delicate product and also advising to get the extra coverage in case something happen like me.

> 24 hourI only got to use this projector for about 3 months when the screen started flashing suddenly and shutoff. I tried to order a new lightbulb and color wheel only to find out that invalidated my warranty. BUYER BEWARE this is either a terrible projector or a ripoff that Amazon allowed to be sold on their site, either way I paid $800 for something that lasted less than 3 months and thats just a bad product I was completely ripped off.

> 24 hour1st Optoma I owned lasted many years. Got this exactly 2 years ago. Near the 1-year mark, built-in speakers started going out. I thought it was just an odd quirk once they spontaneously started working a few days later. Now, the speakers are completely dead. From both ports, different cables, different devices. An 800 projector would seemingly last longer I thought.

> 24 hourJust understand what I did not. Short throw means you cant put your projector far away. That being said the picture is amazing, great for gaming, bright and clear. We all love it. No need for movie theaters anymore.

> 24 hourI purchased the Optoma GT780 for my indoor golf simulator because I needed something with a short throw, and high lumen output. Unless you want to spend $4,000 for the ability to run 4K image quality, 1080p is good enough to play golf for me. Some people like the higher image quality for movie nights, but you’re often not projecting into the best surface, impact screens don’t always have the tightest weave so image quality suffers a bit. Unless my garage doors are open, I can see the image perfectly clear. When it’s chilly outside, I noticed the projector hums a bit more than usual, but it quiets down fairly quickly. They keystone adjustment is nice, and the zoom feature is handy, but the zoom is uni-directional and does not offer fine adjustment. Overall it’s a great projector for the price, I didn’t want to spend $1,000 on a projector when I already spent way too much on the simulator. I wish Optoma used beefier threads on their ceiling mounting holes. I don’t think it’ll fall, but the screws you have to use are awfully small. I’ve read that BenQ offers quite a lot of image adjustments with their projectors, so if that’s something you need, you may want to look into them. Also, BenQ has a handy website specifically geared towards golf simulators so you can find EXACTLY what you need as far as hardware, and distances
