Ive had 2 of these both which lasted less than a year before having to be hard reset just about everytime we start it. It wont find the source and the remote wont work then it just flashes a purple led error code which support had no idea what that meant.

Love it, have not tried gaming mode, works fine in normal w games. Have it on a table in 4.5 feet from 120 inch screen

So just after Optomas 1 year warranty expired, my Optoma GT1080HDR failed. I sent it to a repair facility and they tell me the power supply failed. The unit was mounted on the ceiling for all the year so it was not mishandled. Now I am having a hard time looking for the power supply, it seems there are not places that sell Optoma parts, I contacted Optoma Service but I fear there will be no answer or an exorbitant price for the power supply, I will update this review. I strongly recommend the extended warranty, for my experience Optomas products have good specs but bad quality.

I bought this to do a house mapping project and its bright and great colors. As for home theater use, if you havent used a short throw, it will take time to get used to but the picture is great.

Good Projector, But very disappointed lamp died in less than 400 hours of use in dynamic mode. which is much shorter than the 15000 hours advertised.

I spent a lot of time researching projectors. My goal was a bright projector great for gaming that was 4K and HDR. The newest GT1080 is awesome! On eco mode the fan is very quiet. It’s super bright and is amazing for gaming. I play Call of Duty on it. The out of box image settings aren’t great, but tweak it a little and it looks fantastic.

Just understand what I did not. Short throw means you cant put your projector far away. That being said the picture is amazing, great for gaming, bright and clear. We all love it. No need for movie theaters anymore.

UPDATE: After a couple years, the projector started failing. I contacted the manufacturer, but after a few exchanges, they stopped communicating. The project started losing its video connection and had to reconnect, Optomo said it was probably the connected device, but I eliminated that by attaching other devices. Apparently, changing out the devices affected the problem as it stopped for a while, but has started again. Also, the audio drops out periodically, just stops while the video continues. The only remedy is to cycle power on the projector. We had been using this as a portable TV while working remote assignments. Its fantastics for small spaces, apartments, etc. It has an adjustment for the color of the screen (in our case, the color of the wall) to produce better color. I would like the keystoning adjustment to be simpler than it is. I use the test pattern, so the process is turn on the test pattern, adjust the keystone, turn off the test pattern. Unfortunately, there are half a dozen clicks to get to each of those steps. It would be very handy, for me at least, to have a adjust keystone with test pattern option. We are having some trouble with the projector right now, so I will be very interested to see how the manufacturer deals with repairs. Update: They have dealt with me by ignoring me. Good luck!

The brightness was not equal to an epson that had less lumens. I was surprised.
