I spent a lot of time researching projectors. My goal was a bright projector great for gaming that was 4K and HDR. The newest GT1080 is awesome! On eco mode the fan is very quiet. It’s super bright and is amazing for gaming. I play Call of Duty on it. The out of box image settings aren’t great, but tweak it a little and it looks fantastic.

This is great for our occasional movie nights or big game nights. It is bright enough and the picture quality is great. I feel like last years model would have worked just as well for me. I bought this for HDR, but there is very little support for it. Other than that great buy.

Unfortunately, this model suffers from the same audio out problems that the base model does (you can check the reviews on that model for more details). The picture is amazing and the brightness was exactly what I was after for a large garage deco display for Halloween. Unfortunately, no matter what device I plugged into the audio out suffered from crackling until it eventually stopped working entirely. This was while being connected to either the HDMI 1 or 2 inputs, making using a media box without separate audio out capabilities impossible. This can be circumvented by changing audio settings in the source if you have that ability, but I did not, so it didnt work out for me. The keystone and focus were easy to manage, the menu was simple to navigate, and all pretty basic as expected. Overall, a very decent-looking projector that unfortunately suffers in the audio department.

Im particularly sensitive to any sort of input delay, and even used a high refresh rate camera to try to detect any noticeable delay between my laptop running at 144hz with 1ms delay and this projector. It truly works as advertised, and if used with a PC youll experience lower input latency than you would with a standard TV (or even a decent gaming monitor) with a console. Picture looks great indoors and outdoors, it really only meets acceptable levels for use outdoors around sunset give or take about 15 minutes depending on where its being used. Things to know: This is truly an extremely short throw, if youre not using a ceiling mount, you either need a relatively tall and high projector screen or you need to keep it a few inches from the ground. Do not tip the projector itself. This projector puts out a LOT of heat in a relatively short amount of time but does not noticeably increase in heat after the first few minutes. Youre going to want an external speaker. I did not buy this intending to use the built-in speaker, and it was not loud enough to easily hear quieter dialogue in movies even while indoors while watching with just one other person. This isnt the most adjustable projector in the world, but again, the bang for your buck is fantastic if youre looking to put in just a little effort making sure youve set it up correctly and keep in mind some of its inherent quirks. Youre going to want a ceiling mount for the sake of the device and to use it to its full ability. I dont have one currently because I intend to use it in multiple places and Im renting my home and cant put one in. For your money, this is probably one of the best all-around projectors, especially if you intend to play games competitively either online or with friends. Ive had no problems playing Marvel Vs Capcom, Overwatch, Tekken 7, or Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

I currently have an older Epson Projector and this Optima isnt 1/2 as bright as my old Epson. Make sure you read and view all the you tube videos before buying this model. I feel that there are less exspensive and better viewing options on some other projectors. I wanted this to be my new toy, but after 2 minutes of hooking it up and adjusting all the settings I was so disappointed, it was NOT giving the picture as advertised ! I believe that Optima boost about it having 3,800 Lumens is not accurate at all. Now , maybe using this for a gaming projector its much better, but Im not a gamer. All I can say is do your research before buying this or any projector. Thanks everyone, be safe!
