I bought this to go with my DELL AT101W mechanical keyboard (ALPS switch). I game with the keyboard, so I need/want keys to stay pressed anytime I hold down the keys. My previous motherboard had a PS/2 port on-board, which worked perfectly fine. This USB adapter works ok, as in the keyboard is detected and I can type away normally. However, in games for some reason, the keys (usually the WASD keys) stop responding if I hold them down for too long (when running/walking/driving for example). This is quite annoying to me personally, as I am not used to having to re-press movement keys in certain games. It isnt an issue in all games though, as some games you move around enough that you dont hold down the keys long enough for them to stop responding. I personally dont recommend this adapter, unless you only plan to use the keyboard for typing, as you will notice issues when playing games, and most likely get frustrated in wondering why the keys are not responding.

I have been using old PS/2 keyboards for years, since the ones I have are superior to the cheap things available now. I was using an Inland PS/2 USB connector (with a separate connector for a PS/2 mouse) which suddenly died on me. I have just installed the Peripro-401 on two keyboards, and both function fine. One is an old HP keyboard; the other, an IBM keyclick aristocrat which is so old it doesnt have the Microsoft keys next to the space bar.

I use a Compaq keyboard so you know it is old. Needed adaptor to use it with a modern Dell computer and it works great.

Amazon want me to review. I needed this for an old input device, it seems well constructed, and worked for my needs. I was well satisfied.

I needed this when i upgraded my motherboard and there was no longer a PS2 connector and my 10 year old keyboard could not be connected to a USB KMV switch. This worked perfectly connecting my keyboard PS2 to USB into KVM and then to my PCs.

Compatible with the following keyboards: Unicomp Model M (2004) and Maxi Switch Model M13 Part Number 13H6705 (1996). All keys are detected with this PERIPRO-401 B PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse to USB Converter Adapter.

I like that the USB side isnt too bulky to interfere with any adjacent USB connectors. It didnt really need it to have mouse and keyboard for my uses, since my PC already has one PS/2 port , but its better to have and not need , then to need and not have. Either way I am using mine with a keyboard which has a touchpad built-in, it has two ps/2 output and my mother board has only one native PS/2. I am only use this adapter for the keyboard side. The mouse side functions and I could use both at the same time if I wanted but Ive notice a small response lag from the touchpad whenever I used it. Its not has bad as the lag Ive noticed from every wireless mouse but its a lag which hadnt t exist when it was in the native PS/2. So if people can game with wireless mice then it is still possible with this adapter.

Bought it because my mom (88 years old) needed a new computer. Shes still pretty good with a keyboard but had trouble with new flatter keyboards (laptop and USB) and wanted her old mech. keyboard that had a PS/2 end. Her old computer had been updated to windows 10 as does the new one. Im NOT a tech guy! Bought this one because I was told it was active and you can buy passive ones much cheaper but they dont always work. Plugged adapter into computer first and let it recognize it, then keyboard into adapter, worked smoothly no complaints from her.

I have a old laptop which I converted from Widnows to ChromeOS for my daughters school distant learning. She didnt like the the laptop keyboard layout, so I dug up an old PS keyboard for her to use. With this adapter, she is able to get familiar with the standard keyboard.
