> 3 daySpecifically, this bulb is larger than a standard bulb of this type. Other than that, it does what it says. More generally, It seems like Philips doesnt plan to make the Hue line fully usable. I have a bunch of these bulbs in my basement office to create a sunlight atmosphere during the day and more mellow at night. I set them up with routines at sunrise and sunset. However, if they are not switched on, the routine doesnt run. There is no, as far as I can tell, switch that would offer a trickle of power to the lights so they can receive command but not be switched on. On the whole, this systems only seems half finished and theres been no real progress in years. I had expected that Philips would keep improving the reliability and features of the system, but they seem to be just sitting tight.

Greater than one weekI purchased this E12 bulb for a small fixture in my foyer. I have three A19 Hue color and ambiance bulbs that I really like and wanted to add another for this lamp. Everything worked as it should until this morning when the E12 bulb simply shut down on its own, and I saw the message “unreachable.” I read trouble shooting guides and followed the suggestions. Nothing worked. I called Phillips customer service and was pleasantly surprised that a human came on the line almost immediately. The rep asked a bunch of questions, which I answered and she opened a ticket. A few minutes later I received an email asking for a photo of the bulb with serial number showing, as well as one of the receipt and the lamp (no idea why it should matter). Five minutes later I was sent an email saying that they’d be sending me a new replacement bulb. So I’m happy about that. But still disappointed by this $25 smart bulb dying after four months!
