I have this drive. My ps5 will not play nice with it, no matter the port or the cable I use. But it will work with my ps4. So I dont know if the ps5 or ssd need a firmware update to work properly. Update: also tried this drive hooked up to a usb 3.1 gen 2 (10 gbps) port. It will not work. So transfer speeds are nowhere near what is advertised.

I set this drive up to record footage in ”sentry mode”. Works great and the 250gb give you plenty of storage.

Super small heavy-hitter, right here. Lightning fast. Everything I wanted with no lag or lull. It does warm slightly if I leave it connected for long periods, but super-happy nonetheless.

I’ve put PNY memory in various computers that I’ve constructed over the years and have always found the brand to be reliable, so I don’t expect the Pro Elite Portable SSD to be any different. The drive is small – roughly 2 by 2 ½ inches and gets a little warm when plugged in. PNY supplies both a USB-C to USB-C cable as well as a USB-C to USB 3 high speed cable. Both cables are very short - only 8 inches, so keep that in mind when purchasing. The drive’s outer dark gunmetal aluminum finish compliments my Lenovo Flex 11 nicely, which has a USB-C port. Since this convertible only has a 56 GB internal flash drive, the PNY Pro Elite will come in very handy throughout its lifetime. PNY has pre-formatted the drive in eX-Fat which provides 232 GB of storage space. Without doing any scientific tests I can tell you that this drive is zippy. It is the fastest external drive that I own, especially using the straight USB-C Gen 2 connection. Only when data is transferring, or the drive is mounting a tiny blue pinhole LED will light up. Be careful not to throw out the box without looking for the tiny sticker that looks like a fortune from a fortune cookie that contains the serial number for a limited version of Acronis True Image that needs to be downloaded from the PNY website. The drive comes with a 3 year warranty, which is about average for drives like this. I’d really like to see if anyone gets this drive to perform with the advertised 800 MB/s read and 900 MB/S write speeds

Got this during the black Friday sale time and it was well worth it. The physical size for the money and storage is awesome. Think of it as a square tic tac case yet smaller than an altoid tin. It is so small and light you might even forget you have it. Bring gen 2 usb c helps transfer speed fly by.

The speed is fast, but it gets hot after like maybe 10, 15 minutes of use (I was using it for time machine back up). It gets really hot, like MBA on full throttle without a cooling fan hot. Anyway they need better temp management program.

The first drive I received was having a problem where it kept connecting and disconnecting, Ive tried different cables and the drive only seemed to reliably stay connected via USB 2.0. I thought that I just happened to get one dead on arrival, however I was able to get it replaced and am still having the same issue. Ive tried it on my laptop and two other desktops, all which happen to have AMD processors, so I think its safe to assume that the drive does not cooperate with AMD drivers. However if you are running a computer with an Intel processor, I would recommend it.

Very useful in storage large amounts of data.

Plugged directly into my boxs 3.1 gen 2 port, I get read speeds of 840 MB/s and write speeds of 768 MB/s using CrystalDiskMark. Plugged into a 3.1 gen 2 hub however I get similar read speeds however my write speeds drop to 739 MB/s. Clearly this SSDs best performance happens when you dont use a hub. Its really small and a nice piece of tech and the speeds are pretty close to advertised.

The Pro Elite USB 3. 1 Gen 2 Type-C portable SSD is the next generation in mobile storage, boasting not only increased storage capacity, but also never before seen performance. It"s designed to be a mobile storage solution superior to previous generations of USB-A portable SSD"s, as well as traditional USB 3. 0 Flash drives, allowing for even faster transfer and storage of files on the go. The Pro Elite USB 3. 1 Gen 2 Type-C portable SSD is compatible with both USB-C and USB-A host devices, and the included Acronis True Image data protection software easily backs up data.
