If i have to say I Do not normally write reviews but I feel like I must. I grew up with Red being my First Gameboy game and I definitely approve this work. I didnt expect this game to be so vast and beautiful, you can legit get lost with just exploring. Before this I wasnt really excited to see what the future of Pokémon had to offer, but after this gem I am!

Ive been playing since Red, and I can tell you, Gamefreak has made a Pokémon game that (in my book) has beat the others out of the water. (Except for not giving Pokémon breeders a bone, but they took that away by removing IVs and EVs) I just bought this 2 days ago and have been playing it, almost non-stop, even between breaks at work. I love the changes and I hope every Pokémon game they make after this uses the same formula. Some changes I like: You can change your Pokémon moves, anytime. Craft your own Pokéballs! No battling to catch Pokémon, just throw the Pokéballs. Rapid fire Pokéballs! Pokémon are all locked to maps instead of very specific bushes on a map out of 30 maps. You can run around your Pokémon during battles!

The game was a blast to play, especially if you like just walking open world games collecting things. The only complaint I have is that you can’t battle other players, but aside from that it’s a great experience.

Unique Pokémon experience. Quite refreshing a must play game. Reminds you of Breath of the Wild.

I’ve been a fan of Pokémon since the classics: Yellow, Blue, and Red. This game takes a totally different view on Pokémon. It’s very similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild where it’s all open world and you can realistically do what you want; you don’t necessarily have to follow the story line anf you can go to a bunch of side quests or work on your Pokédex. I do think there are some minor flaws (the introduction taking forever, too many cut scenes, and sometimes I feel like parts of the game aren’t explained super well and I have to figure it out on my own), but nothing that would make me want to stop playing the game. I would suggest it to anybody that likes Pokémon or is just looking for something fun and exciting!

I’m slowly making my way through this game now that I have a better controller. I enjoy the side quests, collecting items, helping my neighbors, and finding other player’s lost items. The music is very pleasant and soothing. This is the Pokémon game I dreamed about.

This is the best Pokemon game in a long time, and some even say best there is outright. Personally, I have sunk many hours into the game and love it. It relies heavily on catching Pokemon to complete research tasks so if you dont like the idea of going out and catching the same pokemon 20+ times, it might not be for you. However, I say give it a shot as it impliments new battle mechanics (significantly less trainer battles and no gym leaders), the areas are huge, and it feels like what a pokemon game should be.

The game itself is amazing and very beautifully done and will keep you playing and enjoying the Pokémon nostalgia. I am definitely happy I held out to purchase this game as my first Pokémon game on the Nintendo. I pre ordered it on Amazon since I work figured I’d get the game around the same time I was getting home so no big deal. Fast forward 3 months since it released. Pre order bonus still has not arrived. Nintendo says they can’t do anything even with proof of purchase as this is an amazon issue not Nintendo. I reached out to amazon the first time back in February and they issued a $10 inconvenience credit. Okay. Still held out hope until I saw somewhere it said pre order bonus codes expire in April or May of this year. Reached back out and was transferred 2 times because customer service didn’t want to deal with it. They understood my frustration but couldn’t care so they transferred. Finally 3rd rep basically bottomlined it saying there is nothing they can do and issued me a full refund with a $10 credit on top of that. Never. Pre ordering. Again.
