> 3 dayMy grandson loves his new bike! He rides it just about every day! He’s getting the hang of balancing better than his sister with training wheels. When he gets bigger, he may not need training wheels when he finally fits on a “real” bike. This bike is quite sturdy, it has survived since April with a 4 year old boy that is very rough on toys.

> 3 dayThose of us who had to suffer through training wheels as children probably wobbled from side-to-side, felt unstable, and begging for help, while trying uncomfortably to keep the bike in an upright position, and having the pedals go around hitting you on the back of your legs when your feet fell off the pedals. Fast forward to what has been happening in foreign countries for a long time! Why spend money on training wheels, and having overly-anxious children when they already know how to pedal a tricycle? Learning to pedal is learned on tricycles, and is easy to do one a child has graduated to a 2-wheeled bike, ........but balance doesnt come as naturally when training wheels make it a 4-wheeled bike. A good balance bike is easily adjustable for the capability and the size of a child. Small tykes can sit on the seat and walk their way around, while older tykes begin to realize they can choose to lift their feet and feel the thrill of coasting, with no pedals going around to hurt their legs. Recent visitors in my home (from France) brought their childrens (age 2 & 4) Balance Bikes along on the trip, skipping the tricycle stage and the training wheels stage. Both children were happily balanced while enjoying scooting around on the balance bikes, and rarely touched the ground with their feet, except for gathering some (small amount of) speed forward, or coming to a stop. Because a balance bike wont gather more speed than a childs feet can provide, it seems that their feet seem to touch the ground less, and prevent more accidents from the beginning. Once a child has mastered true balance on their own, ...... then they will be ready for a bicycle that has pedals, gathers speed, and is more likely to make scrapes and breaks! Ive since bought these for all of my grandchildren! I think they need balance before pedals, and this solved the problem for me! I chose the Radio Flyer brand because its always had a good reputation, is reasonably priced, and Radio Flyer brand items are usually considered family keepsakes, rarely losing their value and memories through multiple generations!

> 3 dayOur bell was broken and you can push it on but every time the bike is laid down it falls off. Also, it was covered in a strange rust or mud under the plastic cover. It’s as if moisture got in and rusted the inner handles and the rust dust blew out all over bc the bars. Idk that’s my best guess. It wiped off but I think it’s rusted inside.

> 3 dayGot it for my 4 yo who took to it right away. It did help that there are several friends of hers who already have balance bikes and she was able to see how it should be ridden before having one of her own. Cons: rather disappointed that the tires were plastic but then I looked at the price tag and all is forgiven. My major beef though is with the seat. No matter how tight I tried to adjust it, it always becomes a bit crook after a few bike sessions. Pros: affordable, looks good, light weight so that even your child can pick it up, the bell, rides well, and last but not the least, it does prepare your child for pedal bikes. We have this bike for 2 months and my toddler already can balance it pretty well. She would pick her feet up and glide for 15 seconds or more before having to push with her feet again. Highly recommend this bike for the fact that it does what every balance bike should do at an affordable price.

> 3 dayMy son loves this bike! Especially the bell, which was an added bonus (for him, not me). Only complaint and reason for the 4 stars is the pole where the seat is sticks out the bottom and when your kid is still trying to learn to balance it, it falls and that pole digs into his leg. Its not a huge deal, and as he grows and the seat goes up, it wont be a big deal, but its already hurt him twice!

> 3 dayMy 2 year old son LOVES this bike. He is a bigger two year old so he wasnt quite ready for a typical tricycle yet, but also was too large for the smaller toddler type toys. We bought this bike and I can truly say it is one of the best purchases we have made. It holds up great, is super easy to assemble. He loves it! In one summer he has already gotten to the point where he is ready to graduate from this bike and go to a full on regular bike with no training wheels, that is how well it has improved his balance! He is ahead of his 4 year old sister!

Greater than one weekThis is a cute balance bike. My 2 year old loves it. But, it is very hard to get the bolt tight enough to keep the handle bar from coming un-aligned with the front wheel. It is not much, but just a little bit. I dont think this is a safety issue. The bolt is also a fairly soft metal, so if you try using pliers instead of a wrench, it can make marks on the bolt. Thats covered by the red plastic. Just to be clear, it is tight enough he can ride it. He does not have the strength to twist it out of alignment and it is not loose enough that it comes out of alignment while riding. Just when it is propped up or laying flat on the ground (such as overnight), the weight of the bike will eventually cause the handles and the front wheel to come un-aligned. Or, if I use adult strength, I can twist the handle to be out of alignment with the wheel. So before he rides it, I always re-align it. He loves the little bell on the handles. That was a nice touch. I was rather happy that the bike came mostly assembled. The instructions give you directions from completely un-assembled starting point. So youll actually start on step 3 or 5. I think its worth the money, but its not perfect.
