I needed a new mouse and my previous favorite mouse was no longer a possibility for me as the quality control just wasnt there. So I needed to go with a new brand. I had never purchased a Razer mouse before because I didnt like the designs. With the release of their new Basilisk mouse I decided it was time to give Razer a try. I primarily play first person shooter games. For the past so many years I have only used the Corsair M65 series mice and there didnt seem to be any alternatives. The Basilisk is a lot lighter than the M65. Comfort level is similar. It is very responsive to button clicks and has not let me down. The only complaint thus far is that the thumb buttons are mushy rather than clicky. I really dont like the way they feel. Other than that this is a great mouse. I hope Razer considers changing the buttons on the side so that this mouse will be near perfect.

So, Let me start by saying I own several Razer products (sphex 2 mat and man-o-war headset), and as a whole Ive been extremely satisfied with their quality and performance. And I dont necessarily regret buying the basilisk, but it did have one glaring issue that is honestly the only thing keeping this from a 5 star rating. Pros: This is the comfiest mouse Ive ever used. I have slightly small hands, but this fits perfectly. It has a nice weight, and the adjustable resistance is a nice feature. Ive spent a couple hours gaming, some RTS and some FPS gaming and it has worked excellently. Ive also used it for some online homework and just general internet browsing, and Its been a breeze for everything Ive used it for so far. Con: I only have one bad thing to say about this mouse, but I found it super frustrating. the rubber on the side that your thumb rests in started peeling off within an hour of me using it. Im not sending it back, I just intend to put some super glue on it. But for a 70 dollar mouse I find this unacceptable. and while my other razer products have been durable so far, Im sort of concerned about how long this mouse will last.

I went from the Razer Mamba which was a gift. It was great for awhile but finally died (pretty sure I raged and slapped my mouse to the mousepad one too many times). I tried the Death Adder which was fine but I found to be too big for my hand. The Basilisk has a nice inset and the buttons are further back and just fit me better. I havent gone through trying to create macros with any of them yet, but maybe with the extra button on the side. We will see. If you are looking for something slightly smaller than the Death Adder I think you will like this.

Overall the mouse works like it should. 1 problem I have is the rgb light does not always turn off when the computer goes to sleep. Will probably have to spend some time with customer support to figure out what is wrong. Ergonomics of the mouse is great. I really like the rest for my thumb which is unique. The switch is very unique.

I bought this mouse after my Razer Deathadder started having the dreaded double-click issue that Razer is famous for (look this up on google if you do not know what it is because it will be the biggest factor for you in buying this mouse). After owning this mouse for over 6 months, the Basilisk is also now having the double-click issue. It will randomly double click instead of single click when using it, which is incredibly frustrating for anything you are doing. I am very disappointed since this is an important factor in a mouse. The product looks great and the lights are a great feature, but if the mouse cannot accomplish its basic needs for mouse clicking, we have a giant problem.

I like the this mouse in almost every way. I like the feel of the mouses surface. Movement is very smooth and has very sophisticated movement speed adjustment if you dont like the current movement speed. Just enough number of buttons on the mouse because I dont like a gaming mouse that has too many buttons that makes me feel like I am holding a keyboard instead of mouse. I also love the cool razer logo and the lighting. BUT WHAT MAKES ME PISS OFF IS that, as it can be seen from the picture that I attached, the left rubber part of this mouse is peeling off itself in a very short time. I dont know if I happened to received a defective one or this mouse just doesnt have enough adhesive to hold the rubber but this is very annoying and not something that I expect from the gaming mouse, otherwise a perfect gaming mouse, at this price range. I had to return the mouse and re-order. I will keep watching this rubber part and see if this one peels off also.

Slight problem with using hyper shift, lost control of button assignments. Called help desk and problem was resolved for now after 15 to 20 minutes and removing and reinstalling synapse 3. I dont mess with hypershift any more. Nice mouse, I use it for Fortnite and I have two Logitech mice. G602 and MX performance. Solid feel for someone with medium large hands and quite comfortable for hours. Never have had any problems with my playing hand using this mouse.

So Ive had this mouse for about a year now, and I do very much like it. It feels good in my hand, and was a decent purchase when it was on sale for about $45.00 when I bought it. Now however it is back up to $70.00, and after a year of use there are some issues with the mouse. First of all, after maybe 5 or 6 months of use a small piece of plastic inside of the scroll wheel mechanism broke. I dont know how. I would try to open it up and fix it myself, but I know almost nothing about computer mice, and I was surprised to find that the scroll wheel worked perfectly, and it could even be adjusted still. I thought nothing of it. Then after another 2 months or so, I started to notice that there were inconsistencies when scrolling. For example, if I am scrolling down at a medium pace, then I slow down, the next few scrolls will scroll much longer. I didnt use to do this before (or at least I didnt notice). Then a week later, the middle mouse click started to act up. Now you have to press on it with much more force than any other mouse owned. Its not horrible. The force required to press middle mouse isnt really much more, I just wish it hadnt happened. Im not going to buy a new $70.00 mouse because of this. Also, as noted in someone elses review, the little rubber piece on the left side of the mouse feels like it is peeling off. It hasnt every come off, it just doesnt feel like its attached very well in the corner. I noticed this after only a week. Its only been 1 year, what is going to happen after another? Hopefully this is the extent of quality issues, and Ill be able to keep using this mouse for at least a few more years. Ive had worse things happen to mice, but as this is a $70.00 product Im disappointed. Also the software is annoying, but this has already been said in other reviews. These are only small things, and the mouse is still really good. It can be really sensitive for FPS games and what not, but also a lot less sensitive for regular use. I like the mouses multi-function paddle. I use it to slow down the DPI when pressed, so when Im trying to accurately click on something, I have much more control. Overall, the mouse is very customize-able, and nice to use. However the build quality of the scroll wheel seems to have some problems, and the software is a bit garbage. Good buy, but even better if on sale.

Great mouse. Love the trigger button. Couldnt game without this mouse. Dont like the software much but eh, Id say its worth it. BUT IF YOU HAVE A CAT - be warned. This mouse (and all razer products) have those really nice shoe-lace type wires. Built for being really durable.... except if you have a cat. My cat treats those wires like crack. Every time I leave my room door open and take a shower or whatever - I come out and my cat has chewed through the wire (not only happened with this mouse, but first happened with the Kraken headphones.... not once but twice and now THREE TIMES including this mouse).... and I know what your thinking.. .duh - your cat ate the mouse.... -_- I kind of wish you could choose between classic wires or the durable shoe-lace wires but definitely not Razers fault. JUST BE WARNED IF YOU HAVE A CAT. Luckily my motherboard protects itself against a electrical short or else it might have fried some things. I ran to my local Bestbuy today to replace it (less than 24hrs later) because I have become to dependent on the trigger button for aiming in videogames - I could have managed a round or two without it but couldnt bring myself to risk it.
