Its pretty good mouse. But i cannot use the middle scroll wheel as a button because its got such a hair trigger. Also the ratcheting mechanism must require a lot of power to actuate as i have to unplug this and plug it into a different PC sometimes so it gets out of free wheel mode. I like the humb rest is just a little taller than the similar logitech mouse, as thumb would sometimes press those side buttons accidently. If a bit more pressure was required to actuate the wheel button and wheel side clicks i would 5 star it. But i have to disable these keys. +1 for onboard profile storage tho.

I bought this because I was having issues with my basilisk ultimate, no surprise razer history is plagued with quality control issues. Overall it’s pretty similar as you would expect, the ultimate is one gen older design but it’s supposed to be the same mouse. The first difference is the coatings are way different. I thought I wouldn’t like it at first but honestly I can’t really tell when gaming. The ultimate versions coating is smoother and way stickier to the palm but not sweat inducing. Just really good grip while being comfortable. The V3s coating is rougher, and feels more slippery but it still holds well in my hand at least. I prefer the ultimate coating but overall not a big change. The extra lighting is always cool and the rest of the mouse hasn’t changed much from the g502 clone shape and function, still great there. My biggest issue with this version is the scroll wheel. A few of my friends and I bought the basilisk SPECIFICALLY FOR the adjustable scroll wheel tension wheel on the older models. And it is completely gone now in place of an honest gimmick with the electronic free spin function. It’s literally removing a valuable function for a fidget spinner. The adjustable scroll wheel tension is something you can’t find in other mice, and the MAIN SELLING POINT for the basilisk compared to the g502 and other clones. It was the entire reason I switched from the g502 to the basilisk and it’s just gone for this gimmick feature and a normal scroll wheel mode that feels mushy and sloppy and just gross to use when in tactile mode. If you like that feature, just buy an older version cause the scroll wheel in this is enough to make me not want to even use it, it’s that lame. Other than that good mouse though.

I have the Razer keyboard. Probably the best feeling and operating keyboard that Ive ever owned. This mouse seems to have an issue with accuracy with the left click. I find myself having to click several time for a response. Hopefully, its just my mouse and not an engineering flaw.

Edit: Use a solid SteelSeries mouse mat, after a month of use the stakes got scratched enough itd sound like it was dragging around, and not moving smoothly. Never had that issue with this mat before. Some very light sanding with a damp scotch brite pad made it smooth again. Edit: Synapse started working properly more or less. It wasnt staying on after pc went to sleep. Other than that, this has been a great mouse for the month Ive been using it thus far. Had a G500s which only lasted 6 years before the left click microswitch stopped working. Hopefully this one will last a lot longer. Wonderful feel in the hand. The scroll wheel isnt slippery like some mice are. You can unlock the scroll wheel if you want it to spin fast freely. Nearly the same feel in the hand as the G500s. I believe 1600 is the DPI by default which for me is fine with maximum settings in windows as well. You can easily turn it up in Synapse, provided the program is on. Id give this mouse 5 stars if Synapse didnt loose sync or turn off every time I put my pc to sleep and wake up. And yes. Auto-Launch is checked on, and it doesnt launch on wake up.

6 month edit: The hyperscoll wheel is a league above Logitech’s infinite wheel. The wheel scrolling is a good mix of tactile and smooth albeit non adjustable. Very smooth over mousepad. I barely notice that it’s a wired mouse with how light and long the cable is. The rgb distributes very smooth light, very comfortable mouse. The fixed in place “sniper button” is a step backward from the removable one on the Basilisk V2. The V2’s button being metal, longer, AND magnetic is nicer. It protrudes less off the side of the mouse and has a better click to it. Razer: Make a wireless Basilisk with the hyper scroll wheel of the V3 and the sniper button of the V2 and I’ll spend my money with you guys again. Until then the G502X lightspeed is superior.

My last mouse was the Razer Taipan White from 2014, which still works great but feels like a change. I bought this Basilisk V3 during the 2022 Thanksgiving to replace it, definitely feels like a significant upgrade all around. Shoutout to Razer for the excellent quality product! Ill pick the Razer mouse over any other.

So I have had so many mouses. So many... for say 20+ years, back when they were still balls inside (look it up kids). The last one from Razer that I got was not so hot. The Mamba TE v1.0 back in late 2017 had issues with cutting out, especially after a Windows update shortly after. After a firmware update it was less terrible* but it never was great, ever. Which is unfortunately, because they usually, previously, did a great job. Here is the deal with Razer, give it like 6 months to a year after it comes out to be safe. Finally I got fed up after getting back into PC gaming after consoles, and got a new mouse and wow what a difference (its not the latest but who cares). The Basilisk v3 is finally perfect. Whatever problems it used to have are no longer a thing a couple of weeks in. Gaming, general use, etc. are all fantastic. That old mouse can go in the garbage or be recycled for all I care. Get this mouse, its ready! And take what I said to heart, dont preorder anything from Razer, wait a while, they rush things to market and then correct them. No bueno. But if you are patient it pays off. Cheers!

I prefer to have 2 extra buttons, but I can make this work. Its pretty light, the free scroll wheel is great, and all the buttons are wonderful. Why only four stars??? Because Razers software is garbage. It will not detect my Razer accessories, so I cannot customize anything. It may work for you for a while, but if that is important to you to dial things in or have a color scheme, look elsewhere; do not buy Razer. There are forum posts from four years ago with people having this issue and no fix and Razers done nothing about it.

*** General Thoughts *** Having owned multiple Razer mice, it comes to no surprise the sheer quality that comes with the product. It has a very nice matte field and feels very ergonomic for medium to larger hands. *** Lightning *** One of the best additions is the multiple zone RGB on the bottom of the mice, which is a rather big change for razer considering that most other mice only have lightning on the logo and the scroll wheel. It is extremely bright, however since lighting uses razer synapse, it may not be worth it. *** Feel *** As I said above, it has a generally nice feel to it and it is very good to hold. The wheel has a switch to change between a frictionless and a very nice clicky feel. Its best of both worlds and I love it. The side buttons are also really nice to click and feel placed well. *** Conclusion *** Lastly, the price. For around $40, it may not be something that everyone is up to, but certainly worth it compared to anything else in the same price range.
