I want to say this is a great keyboard on a budget but honestly, this keyboard is just a great keyboard period! The quality of this keyboard is so far above and beyond what I expected for this price. Typing on this keyboard feels so good. I cant state that enough. For someone that didnt like the loud clicky-ness of the blue switches and didnt quite like how easy it was to push down the keys on the red switches these brown switches are PERFECT. Cannot recommend enough if you are like me. The keycaps and switches were great quality, but I personally wanted to switch it out with some white keycaps to match my white case so that is why it looks different in the pictures. Overall though they dont smudge easily and feel like good quality caps. Volume nob is a nice addition and works as intended! RGB on this keyboard looks great, and is fairly easy to mess with using the fn key and the buttons above the arrows. However, I was a little disappointed to find out that there is no real functional RGB software for this board so any colors you want to do will have to be through the provided options in the RGB setup on the actual board. The side RGB lights are a nice touch as well. Dont really do anything, but they look pretty and thats all you can ask for right? Only real complaint on the RGB is that the white color is more like a white-ish pink. Other than that every other color looks great. Overall, its hard to go wrong with this board for the price! Dont overpay for a Razer/Corsair/etc board when RedDragon makes a really great keyboard for a fraction of the price!

Back in 2021, we felt it was time to replace our current keyboard: It worked fine, but the letters were wearing off, which made it hard for our 4-year-old to find the right keys to type her name (or just hold down the A key). After a bit of research, we decided to try this keyboard: we thought itd be fun to try mechanical, and this one was pretty reasonably priced. Also, we really wanted a keyboard with dedicated media controls, which doesnt seem to be as common as one might think. When we got the keyboard, it worked perfectly well. We went through the user manual and had fun playing with the built-in controls to change the RGB lighting schemes. The software to modify the RGB lights is okay: It also works with OpenRGB, which provides an alternate interface for setting up the lighting. A while back, I got a little into creating 8-bit music, and was able to set up a lighting scheme that corresponded with the keyboard controls for FamiTracker (software to create music for the NES/Famicom). You can also do neat things like have the lights radiate out from a key press. The built-in media controls work as expected, which is great. We havent had an opportunity to mess with the macro keys, but I would imagine theyd work fine too. Regarding customer service: I recently got some jam under one of the keys, and wanted to take it off to clean it a bit. But unfortunately, I had mispaced the keycap remover tool. I emailed Redragon through their website, and they very quickly provided a response, offering to send me a replacement for free. So that was really cool. For full disclosure: They did ask me to write a review, but did NOT condition the keycap tool upon the review. So anyways, this is a great keyboard with great customer support. I would definitely recommend it.

I dont game anymore but am so used to gaming keyboards all else seems weird. First one of these K580s lasted about 8months before the spacebar circuit itself died (replacing switch didnt help). Bought another K580 back in January and a cheaper RGB keyboard just to use during the remodel of my office. Office was finished a month ago so I broke out the K580. Today May 21, 2022 while Im watching youtube and commenting, random keys up the middle change color and random hotkeys open up different windows. * have no control of the keyboard. Everything weird stops happening as soon as I unplug the keyboard. I restart my pc and everything is normal with the old cheap keyboard, but as soon as plug in the K580 everything goes wonky again. Edit: I struck this up as a complete loss but today (June 02 2022) without me even doing anything or knowing, they sent a replacement. A straight up good company that went out of their way. They get back their 5 stars.

I recently bought an un-godly number of keyboards, looking for an upgrade or change from my well loved Corsair K70 Lux RGB with brown switches. I opted for the newer K70 Pro with optical linear switches as my new daily. Those switches are amazing and the keyboard is solid and sexy! The Red Dragon K580 VATA RGB is just as good and better is some aspects. First, the build quality is top notch. The blue switches are nice and satisfying if you like tactile and clicky. The layout is basically perfect for a full board with macro keys on top left and media controls on the top right. The volume wheel has become a mandatory feature for me, and this one is smooth and solid. The one feature that this board has that beats out the Corsair: Programmable RGB WITHOUT SOFTWARE! I run Linux on all of my machines and obviously none of the mainstream brands offer their software for Linux, and even if they did, I wouldnt want that bloated spyware laden garbage anyway. Red Dragon has managed to offer a HUGE range of custom lighting options that you can pretty easily achieve with just the function key. The other feature that I am enjoying is the programmable macro keys. Its not a deal breaker to not have them but its pretty sweet for saving time and keystrokes. For the price, and even for twice the price, Im not sure you can do better than this board. I did try the red switches as well and they were actually even better than the blues (for my taste). Personally, if I chose this keyboard for my daily, I would choose the red switches. Either way, its a matter of taste and you cant go wrong on this one. One last note, I also tried the K622 Horus TKL RGB and it was also great but I felt the media switches were just a little lower quality. Thats not a huge deal as those are rarely used and if you want TKL layout, that keyboard is also incredible overall.

Let me start by saying this is my first mechanical keyboard. I have a gaming laptop that packs some serious specs but thats irrelevant. I bought this keyboard only for one reason. Mechanical keyboards work great with a particular game, named Osu ( A anime rhythm game), in which key pressing is very fast and very precise. If you ask me, nothing except this particular game has really made me realize just how great mechanical keyboards are. In the game, you can have to press the X and Z key up to 10 times in under a second. This mechanical keyboard is an absolute God-send and almost instantly upped my game. However, I see no reason why normal nongamers would want one of these. Do Not Buy Into The Hype that mechanical keyboards are the greatest thing since sliced bread. They are not I repeat not. I love this thing but thats only because of that particular game. Sure my typing is slightly and I do mean very slightly better. However, overall I wouldnt recommend a mechanical keyboard to ordinary people. Especially this particular one if you work in an office setting. The keypresses are quite loud and while I like that aspect, I can see how it could get annoying very quickly. But I will say if you simply want to try out what a mechanical keyboard is, Id recommend this one as others can get pricey. The Lighting is splendid (though to be honest most of the time, I turn it off as I dont really care about that sort of thing ) the keypresses are nice and clicky and take very little force to press down. I also very much enjoy the semi-compact form factor. Overall only buy if youre seriously trying to step up your gaming, or just want to try it out. (ALSO for the few of you that know what Osu is, YOU NEED A MECHANICAL KEYBOARD, I do mean need. I cannot overstate how much this improved my game )

UPDATE: The company sent me a replacement keyboard however, they were able to walk me through replacing the key on the board. I was able to replace my D key and its working as normal. Thanks for the follow up. Ive had this keyboard for 3 months and its going to be heading to the trash soon. The D Key is starting to fail regularly. I dont even use this keyboard for gaming, so normal use. Unfortunate considering I have another keyboard from RedDragon that I use exclusively for gaming and it never has any issues.

Although theyre not cherry mx switches, these blue switches feel quite nice and clicky. The keyboard itself is well constructed, with minimal deck flex and quality that isnt too far from more popular keyboards such as the corsair K70. Software has to be downloaded from a link in the product description but its very customizable, with multiple preset colors and a completely customizable option. Ive been using this keyboard for a couple of months now with no issues. Since the switches sit on top of the deck its very easy to clean the keyboard and just a quick shake usually dislodges any dust and debris. The only quirks with this keyboard is a slight metallic twang after each keystroke and the macro buttons on the top left that are far inferior in quality compared to the rest of the keyboard but since I dont really have a use for the macro buttons its not much of an issue for me. The white color option also has a slight pinkish hue to it rather than being pure white. Overall, this is a really nice beginner/starter keyboard for those that are wanting to try out mechanical keyboards before buying a much more expensive brand name keyboard.

I dont write reviews often, but kinda felt this one warranted one. Honestly, Ive never had bad luck with Redragon Products too. They are a discount brand, but definitely dont seem to skimp on quality. (Heck, one of the first Redragon Mice I EVER bought 15 years ago still works to this day, and has outlasted 5 other much more expensive mice I have been through) In this case, I got this KB as a cheap replacements for my wifes work computer, since we didnt need to buy a more expensive gaming keyboard after one of our pets chewed through the cord. However, she wanted it for the mechanical aspect and customizable RGB. Her company locked down her PC so she couldnt install the RGB software, so I took it to use on a spare computer. I ended up liking it so much with how smooth and natural it felt that I actually made it my main keyboard on my primary gaming computer. It replaced my Steelseries Apex 7, which is now on the spare computer. Im not the most dexterous person, and sometimes my fingers tripped over the keys on the SS. For some reason, it doesnt happen on this one, and gaming feels so much better now.

Update: The seller reached out and offered a replacement unit. The new unit is working perfectly. -----‐------- First of all, let me say that the overall build quality is amazing, and I think Ive just received a defected product. I noticed that the right and left arrow key were sticky right on the first day, at first I thought thats the way its kind of supposed to be since its my first mechanical keyboard. But after showing it to some friends, they all confirmed that its defective or dirty or something along those lines. Luckily, they included 2 extra switches in the box so I was able to swap them. But now, if anything goes wrong with another set of keys/switches, Ill have to buy new switches, which is nonsense, given that this is a brand new keyboard. If it werent for this, Id say that this keyboard is perfect for starters into the mechanical keyboard World. But given the experience, 1 star is fair.

So, I originally purchased 2 Corsair K70 keyboards a couple years back for 2 different computers. I wanted top of the line mechanical boards with customizable backlighting for my recording studio business, and I was ok paying the higher cost for a high end product. They needed 2 cables to interface to the computer, and the Corsair Icue software was kinda ridiculously confusing to use, despite recent revisions to it. It did let you set up different per-key lighting schemes for different programs, and it would automatically switch to those schemes when you opened each program, which was cool, but not hugely useful to me for the way I used it. Overall it was frustrating as hell to use, and with each software update my old settings seemed to disappear and I’d have to re-setup everything again. Then I’d basically have to re-learn the software each time I took an update because I didn’t use it often enough to remember how to navigate it efficiently. So ultimately, I was constantly having to screw around trying to make it work for me. Then, one keyboard stopped working at all. Anyway, long story short, I threw them away out of disgust and frustration and replaced them with these. (Even then, purging the stupid software from my system got confusing and took some time, as it was affecting the lighting in the new boards in a weird way). Boom!! Better backlighting, more legible keycaps, great tactile feel, easily replaceable keys (they even come with spares), and so much less money than the previous boards that I can replace them three times over for the same money the other ones cost. Per-key lighting can be easily set up without using external software, and tweaked on the fly in 5 seconds. I actually bought 2 different models of these, the bigger one has volume control and transport and programmable macro buttons, and works just as well and easily as the smaller, less-featured model. If you’re looking for an illuminated board, I think these are a great value and punch way above their cost in quality and usability.
