> 24 hourWhen I received this bag I unboxed it, it looked good, and so I put it in my office until my next work trip Four months later, I excitedly knelt down on the floor to pack it up, stood up, pulled the telescoping handle up ........ and it only went half way. I was crunched for time so I just put it in the car and figured Id use the backpack straps the carry it. Once at the airport, I realized it was going to destroy my back (from the weight), so I tried to extend the telescoping handle again (half way), and just walked a little hunched over because it was so low. After checking in for my flight I sat down and fiddled with it a bit trying a telescope the handle various ways - fast, slow, hard button press, light button press, leaning forward, leaning back - and finally it gave and fully extended. Putting the handle back down for TSA made me nervous, and rightfully so. The handle was stuck again at the halfway point when I tried to raise it after the security check. I eventually got it raised fully after several iterations of trying to raise it. The bag stored perfectly under the seat in front of me (737 plane, center seat), and the side pocket held my water bottle (laying flat) the whole trip. After the flight the handle again gave me a little more trouble, but then for the whole rest of the trip it was fine. I guess maybe the handle had some initial kinks to workout ...? ... but I wont lie, Im a little nervous about my next trip in a few months. Aside from the problems with the telescoping handle, I love the bag. It seems to be highly durable with lots of functional compartments.

> 24 hourI use this as my teacher bag. I am able to put my laptop, papers, and jacket in it, and still have room for other items. I also plan to use it as a carry-on while traveling.

> 24 hourAfter busting through 2 luggage type roll-along bags (the wheels literally broke on both bags), I broke down and purchased a new one after reading several reviews. The previous wheels broke due to the massive weight of a second-year nursing student. The place I work has a lot of downtimes, so I needed a bag that would not only handle the amount of weight from books, but that could work as a complete student office bag so to speak as I take it to work every single day to utilize every second of downtime for studying. I need quick, easy access to my books and study material. I ordered this Matein roll along bag, the 17 inch roll-along bag, with free shipping. But even with that, I ordered my bag on Friday evening and received the bag Sunday afternoon (super fast shipping). This was a great relief because I thought I would have to struggle with taking my broken wheels bag for several days. But nope, it came super fast which I was very pleased about. Immediately after receiving the bag, I put the bag together. I love the cup pocket on the side. It fits my insulated water cup nicely. There are 2 bigger compartments. I like to organize my classes by folders, so I organized the front smaller compartment with my nursing classes folders, and then put my big, honkin nursing books in the middle compartment. Ill admit, it was a tight fit, but when I placed notebook paper in the side area, it all fit, surprisingly. LOL! It has a small zipper compartment in the front, top of the bag where I placed all my highlighters, colored pens, pens and pencils into for easy access. You could use it for your phone and headphones if you wanted to. There is a zipper area lower front that I put a calculator, stapler and headphones into. In the main compartment there is a padded area for laptops. I purchased this bag because I graduate from nursing school in September 2021 at which time I would like to do some traveling. So, I purchased this bag with that idea in mind. I believe size-wise this rolling along bag would be great and would fit as an overhead bag, so you wouldnt have to worry about checking in the bag. There is plenty of space with awesome pockets for traveling. I love that the roll-along handle zips inside if you use it as a backpack. And then the same goes with the backpack straps...there is a compartment that zips them in so you dont have to see them or mess with them when you dont need them (i.e. during nursing school when there is no way Im using this as a backpack-shoulder killer-LOL!). I also love that the bag stands securely straight up and down (no constantly falling over). And all the compartments have easily accessible zippers on both sides (talk about time-saving). The handle seems great. Its kind of a squishy plastic that grips for comfortable hand grip and the wheels seem sturdy. The only downfall for me and the use of this bag is I wished it was bigger. But again, I bought it with that in mind because I really want to be able to get my moneys worth out of it when I finish nursing school, and I think it will be an awesome travel bag. The only other thing is I wished it came in different colors and fabrics (like Jansport bags), but I wanted a sturdy roll along bag, so I chose this one instead. And hey, this one can be used for my girl or boy teenagers later for travel. All in all, 5 stars for this bag. I went ahead and purchased the 4-year warranty, but after seeing this bag, I do not anticipate using it. Seems VERY well made....strong zippers, handle and wheels. Very happy with this purchase!

> 24 hourI bought this bag for my college nursing bookload. In the past, Ive also tended to carry in my school bags everything that I could ever conceivably need for any situation—this has been an issue on my back in the past, so a rolling backpack especially was important to me to get for that reason as well. I had bought another rolling backpack on Amazon before for a similar price, but it didnt have as many pockets as it first appeared, and the ones it did competed with the other pockets around it for space, so if you used one pocket then the rest would be inaccessible. With one minor exception, every pocket in this bag does not have this issue. There are a very large number of pockets in this bag, especially in the forward compartments, but there are still enough in the main compartment that I can keep my soft books, papers, and hard books all separate from one other. Even when its cramped to capacity, the zipper holding the compartment together doesnt feel at any structural risk. The rod that runs through the back of the bag and into the handle is not separated from the main compartments back by anything but a somewhat thin material, and you can feel through to it with a hand. Theres a soft and thin styrofoam lining that helps keep it from jutting against the rest of what you might store in the main compartment, but the cloth separating back can be opened to put more stuffing there if youre worried about it. Putting more in there to buffer around the rod and make sure it doesnt push against your things shouldnt decrease space by much of anything. I havent done anything with it yet, as the styrofoam lining is effective enough for me. The handle itself is a little bit testy sometimes when you try to push it back down, but that feels like such a nitpick compared to everything else the bag does well. Its surprisingly light on its own, and its backpack straps fold up extremely, extremely neatly so that you dont have to deal with fighting them ever. They attach to the bottom of the bag by a stable hook when you want to use them, and they can detach to tuck away tightly and completely when youre done with them. Theres no having to feed them through straps and adjusting and readjusting them each time you want to put them on. I only switch this to be a backpack on my back when Im trudging through snow for up to fifteen minutes, but I dont find getting it together very difficult. Its not comfortable when worn that way, but this bag has the most effective design I can think of for backpack straps on what should generally be a rolling backpack. It has two bottle holders on each side of the bag which are made out of cloth on the bottom with more mesh towards the top. Theyre very sturdy, and so far I havent had issues with putting water bottles in either one, so long as it doesnt have a really weirdly large base. Im not afraid of this part of the bag breaking over time: its not flimsy at all. Another small thing about the extended handle is that its surprisingly not uncomfortable to use as someone whos 53, but theres a lot of room that I think that someone much taller than me wouldnt be uncomfortable at all using it. Im on the very shorter end of comfortable use. The bag is capable of handling water (or, well, melted fallen snow, from where Im from) to an extent, but I dont think you could throw it in a pool. Its just the kind of water resistant that you would hope to expect from a good backpack, where it can handle the elements to a reasonable (but not magical) extent. I jam this thing full of stuff. Occasionally, I have to put it in a tall and narrow school locker. It fits in perfectly neatly, and I dont have to fight to pull it out. It kind of shocked me when I first saw it manage that. Given its surprising quality, I would struggle to justify buying a different bag at this price point. I cant think of any particular issues other than what I mentioned further up. I dont really post reviews, but I feel obligated to post one to glow about this backpack because its been just so reliable. Ill return to this review in a few months to update it based on how the backpack holds up over time.

> 24 hourI bought this because I wanted a backpack with wheels for when I have to carry heavy loads of books/papers. This works great for using it as a teacher who has to take stuff too/from my car as well as across the school campus multiple times a day. The main compartment holds a lot of stuff and zips down all the way to have easy access. It fits my work Chromebook perfectly and has very useful pockets everywhere. It is constructed to angle back and compensate for heavy front-loads, and does NOT tip forward when you stop to let it sit. The collapsible handle is great and has two length settings, and theres also a hand strap on the top of the bag if you need to grab it to lift over stairs or in/out of the car. Its sturdy enough for my use. (I see some reviews are low stars because parents bought it for their 8th grade sons to use for school and it broke. Well, as a middle school teacher I can tell you exactly what those kids are doing with their rolling backpacks and Im pretty sure theres nothing made to withstand the abuse. Perhaps something military grade...) This bag has hidden straps you can pull out to turn it into a backpack for lighter loads. Its a little awkward using it that way compared to a normal backpack, but still totally fits the bill. I am happy with my purchase.

> 24 hourLast August, I purchased another backpack with wheels from Amazon. It lasted eight months, which I was fine with, since I used that backpack nearly every single workday, stuffing it full and rolling it across airports, hotels and airplanes all across the country. I was going to reorder the same item, until I noticed this Matein backpack with slightly higher ratings. So I ordered it instead. Happy to report that, yes, the Matein is designed better and has more features than the quality product I already have.
