Its not a perfect system, but if you play with it, you can get the job done. Trick #1- the Video Capture USB device gets hot, and will burn up. When it gets too hot, the picture quality gets bad. It gets real jittery, and theres no fixing it- letting it cool wont make a difference. I recommend keeping one of those little blue ice packs on it (in a zip lock bag to capture the condensation). Dont leave it plugged into your computer when you arent actually transferring video. Trick #2- if the video doesnt show up in the app, try selecting Record DVD. Once you get the video working, go back and select Record, Edit, Save if you want to save it to your harddrive. You may have to do this several times.

The converter worked great! The instructions left something to be desired, especially on how to get the converted video to DVD. If one misses a step or makes a wrong choice, there is no way to back up; one has to start over.

After you figure out the quirks, this product works extremely well. For my first few tries, the audio was distorted. To fix this, I had to do two things. 1) in windows sound properties, I made the volume VERY low (3%). 2) in the vhs software, I made the volume slider also very low (pretty much all the way to the left plus a tiny amount). After that, audio was perfect and surprisingly not as quiet as those settings would have you believe.

I have a lot of old hard drives with data, photos, videos and apps. I needed a device that can easily attach to my old drives, video camera and vcr’s. This device works great for my purposes. I didn’t use the included app much because I have a separate bideo editing app.

My father was unable to link his vcr to his new t.v. My brother and I decided to get him a t.v. with a dvd player inside. I used this product to convert his vhs to dvd. I have made my dad a very happy man. He now is able to watch all the videos he has purchased in the past, especially when the weather interferes with his dish. He is still able to watch television! Happy dad, happy child. It warms my heart to help him with tech.

I thought I was going to have to spend hundreds of dollars transferring a bunch of old camcorder videos to digital format. I happened to come across this $20 thing, and I assumed it wouldnt work. Why do companies charge so much money to transfer videos if you can buy a $20 device online and do the same thing yourself? I figured I should at least try. I was amazed at how well the Roxio product worked. If you have some videos you want to transfer - and if you have a VCR or something that will still play them - try this product. You could save hundreds of dollars.

Purchased this product a while back to convert VHS tapes and other media to digital format. The program would export the video using the supplied hardware device, but when trying to create a DVD, it would not play on my DVD players. Tech support said the program was not creating NTSC formatted output, and to use MyDVD to create a DVD. That kinda worked. They fixed the NTSC issue a few months later, and it worked maybe once. So to create a DVD from the captured video content, I use a third-party program. I then tried to use the program to capture audio from cassettes or LPs. Again the program would capture the audio ok, but when I tried to burn a CD, it would crash the program. I worked with tech support for countless hours on different suggestions, but that proved fruitless. So again I used a third-party program to burn CDs. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT, UNLESS YOURE WILLING TO PUT UP WITHA LOT OF HEADACHES TRYING TO GET THE SOFTWARE TO WORK THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO WORK. OR BE ABLE TO WORKAROUND ITS FLAWS.

I have a old canon zr100 camcorder that I used to transfer my mini dvd tapes thru my dvd/vcr player. However it no longer works on the dvd side. I was looking for something to easily transfer the tapes thru the computer to a dvd disc. I tried a couple other capture cards that would not work on any of my computers ( I have 3) But, this one was so easy to hook up and use and I have to thank a you tube video or I would never have thought about buying. I would recommend this!!!! I can honestly say it is that simple to use I did not need any tech advise and I am not that great anymore at connecting things to make them work! Thumbs Up for sure on this!

Worked one time out of twenty seven. Ruined 26 dvds trying to get the rest done, customer service kept sending the same message I was not able to message back only way to get ahold of them was by phone transferred multiple times to get to tech pro then they would send me the same message that didn’t work. This went on for three weeks came to the best conclusion throw this device in the trash will try another way to transfer. If I could give less than one star I would. I used multiple computers and after the one that did transfer also had a computer expert try to no avail we uninstalled it reinstalled still wouldn’t do what it was supposed to do. Not a very happy customer I would never recommend this product to anyone
