Seachem really runs the game in fish care, in my opinion at least. I use Prime and Stressguard regularly and I keep a bunch of their medications on hand. I used to use Pristine back when I just had my African cichlid tank, angel fish tank, and 1 betta tank. It really helped keep my nitrates low and provided a much needed extra cleaning in my tanks in between water changes. I love this stuff. I stopped using it only because money got tight and I couldnt justify the extra cost at the time. But now I realize how much it helped my tanks. I really cant justify not using it now. Detritus was not even a worry when I was using this but once I stopped using Pristine it really started creeping back up. I cant say enough good things about this. You cant look at this stuff as just something to clean your tank either. This is a much needed supplement to provide the best environment for your fish. This helped keep a much healthier environment for all of my fish Im sure, but especially my betta. This is really a necessity for me now. Now that Ive done it without it and Ive gone back to it I wont go back. I cant recommend this stuff enough.

Got African Cichlids? Overstocked aquarium? I love my cichlids like family. Have around 13 and they produce alot of poop fairly quickly within the confines of a 30gal tank. Pristine is critical for the optimal health of these fish. Seachem Pristine keeps Ammonia and Nitrite at zero. It also keeps Nitrate as low as possible between weekly water changes. I find the fish seem less impacted at the end of the week when its time to change the water. They have more energy and color. I use Pristine in combo with Stabality along with Seachem Matrix in my 2 canister filters. Finally, last but not least, I use Seachem Purigen to polish the water. TIP 1: Feed high-quality fish food. I found Omega One keeps fish extremely colorful and aquarium water noticibly clear after feeding. TIP 2: Also highly recommend Cichlid Lake Salt and Fresh Trace TIP 3: Malawi Victoria Buffer is a must if you have soft water with ph less than 7.8

I started to notice the detritus started to go away within a few days but you also have to keep up a maintenance dose.

My daughters tank was extremely high in nitrates and nitrites. This product completely helped along with changes, now all levels are good.

Ive kept fish, fresh and saltwater, for about 50 years. My latest is my 1st heavily planted freshwater. I had cloudy, not dirty water. Some research led me to believe this due to the greenery. I read about Seachem Pristine a thought why not? After only 3 doses, on the 4th day my water disappeared! I have never been into the quick fix thing, but this stuff is amazing. Introducing beneficial bacteria is so much better for the fish than hoping for organics.

Paired this with Purigen in a goldfish tank that, no matter what we did, went filthy in no time, despite an established cycle. Cleared the water up, removed sludge, and lowered nitrates. Less biofilm on the filters too. Definitely a great purchase.

I have 3 tanks total; 48, 15 and a 5 gallon. This does a great job of keeping the lines in my canister filter free from algae and buildup as well as keeping visible small particles in the water column at bay. It is a bit pricey to use regularly, but a small does after a water change is all you really need to get it established. It wont 100% make you water carribean clear forever, but Ive noticed a difference. Especially when cleaning my filters, after using Pristine the filter floss doesnt have as much detritus buildup.

Seachem’s Pristine uses bioaugmentation, a non-chemical and natural method, to improve water quality. It provides bacteria that break down excess food, waste, and detritus in freshwater and marine systems. For over three decades, Seachem has been a company rooted in sound science. Our experience in the hobby and educated staff of chemists and biologists are part of the package when you purchase Seachem products. Seachem remains as one of the few surviving independent and privately owned pet care companies. Seachem is owned and operated by hobbyists. All of our employees are hobbyists who maintain aquariums at home and at the office. Seachem itself was started because one such passionate hobbyist - Dr. Leo G. Morin (Founder) - recognized the lack of available solutions to aquarists". . This resulted in Seachem’s very first product: Cupraplex (today known as Cupramine). Over thirty years later Seachem is still approaching old problems in a new way. Seachem’s philosophy is that the knowledgeable hobbyist makes the best customer. This is reflected in solid and reliable customer education and support as well as products proven in science and performance.
