I use my mic for recordings as well as live broadcast and this microphone could not be better. Compared to other microphones of this quality the price can not be beat and neither can the quality. I hooked this up to a Yamaha sound mixer and everything works great.

You DO NOT need a Cloudlifter if you are using the GOXLR (regular sized or mini), the SM7B sounds very clean and crisp out of the box plugged into a GOXLR, with no settings or switches touched on the mic and preamp (outside of turning the gain up, of course). Im also using Mogami Gold XLR cable.

I can understand you might not be able to understand techno side about this mic, so there is no need for me to say it has nice blah blah blah. To sum this mic up, its a bedroom mic. For you to fully use this mic is going to cost more then a $400 dollar mic and $149-400 interface. And no this was not use in the Michael Jackson Thriller, it was a older mic with the same Brand, but 40 years before this actually SM7B model if that makes sense. The EQ (your voice/freq when you talk) doesnt handle well with high ends what so ever, and find yourself trying to cut those high ends a lot for a cleaner sound. And no this is not a hip hop mic. And was only brought up in 2006. The real hip hop mics are the price of a Harley Davis motorcycle.

The sound is awesome but its a really quiet microphone, you will need a mixer of pre-amp to boost the gain.
