Im relatively new to the home voiceover market. My previous microphone was the Sennheiser MK4 (paired with the Scarlett 2i2) which wasnt a bad mic but incredibly sensitive. It picked up every single noise from outside and I was suddenly made painfully aware of all the clicks pops and squeaks my mouth makes when I speak. I did a lot of research on mics because of all the challenges I had. I read great things about this one. The challenge was finding a decent interface to pair this with since you apparently need a lot of gain to maximize this microphone. I ended up getting the Apogee Duet (separate review of that coming) and WOW. The sound is fantastic. I am editing narration I did with that set up and Im having to do much less editing. The in between noises are so quiet compared to the last set up I had. Dont get me wrong, I still hear occasional pops and clicks from my mouth but the ambient noise has dramatically reduced. In my last set up, if I heard a car or plane outside, I would have to stop recording. Not here. This mic picked up nothing but my voice. Great value.

If you dont want to spend your time twitching with knobs, duelling with equalizers trying to find the right sound for your voice recording... that is it !! The Shure SM7B has its sound and flavour already imprinted in our minds throughout thousands of hours listening to voices on the radio, podcasts... It has it all ! Very few microphones can rival this black beast!

Gutes Mikrofon für einen guten Preis. Es sollte sich auf jeden Fall ein Pre-Amp angeschafft werden! Bei mir ist es der Cloud lifter.

Pricey, but not as compared to other studio quality mics. My son is usIng this to record vocals and acoustic music in a small home studio

Ive used the Shure SM7B at a couple of stations in my radio career over the years and decided I would splurge to make it my home microphone for everything from voice overs to Skype. So I picked this up from Amazon reseller BSW, along with a USB pre-amp and boom (I got the mic cord from Amazon).

Worth every penny. This is one of the rare products that met all of my expectations and actually blew me away.

The SM7B dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response appropriate for music and speech in all professional audio applications. It features excellent shielding against electromagnetic hum generated by computer monitors, neon lights, and other electrical devices. The SM7B has been updated from earlier models with an improved bracket design that offers greater stability. In addition to its standard windscreen, it also includes the A7WS windscreen for close-talk applications. Popular radio and TV mic features excellent shielding against electromagnetic hum. Plus mounting bracket. Impedance: 150 ohms for connection to microphone inputs rated at 19 to 300 ohms.
