I have no idea what a pen name is.
> 3 dayAny pair of headphone for any price that turns on and works will be louder than these. Noise cancellation sucks. Ambient noise control? Nonsense terms used to sell a product. People who left more than 1 star must never have used headphones before.

> 3 dayUPDATE #2: After returning the first set of these headphones, I ordered another set on Prime Day and have now had a little more than a month to try them out. Based on this experience so far, Im raising the rating from 2 to 4 stars. Trying not to jinx things, but the new unit does not have the right earcup static issue that plagued the first set (and that a not insignificant number of users have complained about). Im not sure whether one of the firmware updates addressed the issue or whether the first set had a hardware issue of some sort, but the new set has not had the issue.

> 3 dayNever had noise cancellation in a headphone before so this was my first experience with it; its definitely not as its advertised but it works really well. In reality it just sounds like everything gets quieter and played through a bad speaker. To the point where it relies on the music to drown out the rest. So when you play music the cancellation of noise is outstanding. Without music it just sounds weird...

Greater than one weekIve tried many different over the ear headphones... the Sony XM4s dramatically blow away the competiton in regards to the noise cancelling. Scary good and so much better than the aging technology of the Bose 35 II; 45s and 700 models. No competition, Sony nails this. Sound quality also is the best in class. Dont even get me started with the Apple over the ear headset. Twice as much money and suck at ANC. Truly a joke from such a greedy company. Stick with the Sonys you wont be disappointed.

> 3 dayI recently moved into an apartment in the heart of my city and I love it, but this being the heart *and* the entertainment district, its...lively. Thumping club music, loud drunk tourists, revving cars, you name it. Im also down the road from a busy fire station. And across the street theres daily construction on a skyscraper and even though Im quite high up, well, so is the construction. I can handle city noise, but I also work from home and sometimes I need peace and quiet to focus. As anyone whos worn earplugs knows, you can only wear them so much before your ears physically cant take it anymore. So I went in search of the best noise cancelling headphones I could find and came across these. I didnt even hesitate before throwing down the $350, desperate for relief. I was optimistic but wasnt sure that they would be able to cope with all the loud, abrupt noises of my environment.

> 3 dayThe headphone Price was very promising during Thanks giving sales. Noise cancelling and quality was promising compared to Bose 700 Headphones, but then after applying the latest software upgrade 2.0.7, it stopped charging. I thought it may be a bad unit, but when the replacement unit also behaved the same, loosing confidence in SONY and the product! On top of it there is no troubleshooting other than sending the unit back for servicing! Very disappointing product design!
