> 3 dayWorks exactly like it’s supposed to. The brainwork for installing it isn’t quite as simple as it would seem;, be careful to see that the wheel trough on the rack is in the correct position in the mock up for mounting hole placement which is actually done with the rack on the floor and bike backed up to wall (then you measure from the leading edge of the front tire to the wall with the rear tire abutting it)). Accounting for the projection of a base molding from the wall also can be tricky (I subtracted the depth of the base molding without realizing the base molding didn’t matter because it didn’t hit the tire). I looked at a lot of devices for hanging bikes with a top priority bod not having to lift the bike; one was basically an arm anchored in the ceiling that used pneumatics to lift the bike flat against the ceiling but, there was some fiddling with securing it and I didn’t want a big clutter hanging overhead in my nice-looking garage, which goes for all the pulley contraptions too. I liked Steadyrack’s vertical mount too because it leaves more useable wall space, it’s clean look and after getting used to it, the ease of getting the bike into it.

> 3 dayOnce installed this product is excellent. The hardware is not great and none of the four racks I purchased came with instructions regarding the correct hole size for the plastic grommets used when not hitting a stud. Even when using a hole size small enough to have to hammer the plastic grommet in, the design is so poor the plastic will rotate instead of allowing you to tighten the bolt to a stop. The other aspect that is less than perfect is the silly clips that hold the top and bottom caps on. They are fragile and made of a hard plastic that breaks instead of bending. If you read your warranty, you will note that damage caused during installation or shipping is not covered. In my case I had one broken clip in shipping and one during installation. The cap still mounted but a better design or product material is needed at this price. With all that said, once mounted this rack is excellent. I have the racks spaced at 10 inches apart (254 MM) with every other rack about a 10” higher than either side. (Measure your bars, divide by 2, add an inch or more for clearance) Even with the additional height I am easily able to roll the bike onto the rack. The pivoting feature is excellent. I do not know of another way of getting four bikes into a tighter spot without risk of damage to any of them.

> 3 dayWe had bike hooks on an Ikea Elfa garage rack. It was hard to get a full size bike on to those and the rubber stuff on the hooks kept ripping and coming off. Major pain. Installed one of these for my wifes bike and it works great. I will be reconfiguring our wall storage to accommodate more of these. One caution: the listing says the standard size will work up to 2.4 tires. it wont Ive tried Furthermore, the box it comes in says maximum size is 2.2 I was able to get my sons 2.25 tires to work with very little room to spare, but my 2.35 front tire will NOT work. My advice -- if your tires are bigger than 2.2 get the mountain version.

> 3 dayI just finished mounting this rack to my wall. IMHO this is THE wall mount for a fat tire bike. I have a Kona with 5 wide tires. The bike weighs 35 lb. With this rack it is easy to get the bike in the rack. My suggestion however is to only mount this rack onto a stud. Forget the plastic drywall inserts included in the package. Good quality hardware is provided, just use a stud finder and mount directly to a wooden stud. I used a 3/16 drill bit for the upper bracket mounting pilot holes and a 1/8 drill bit for the 2 lower bracket. Bracket swivels a bit. The standard hook type wall mounts are not going to work for my 5 fat tire bike. If you gently squeeze the sides of the plastic bolt covers, the covers come off without breaking as mentioned in another review. This is not mentioned in the instructions. Well made product that works. Heres a photo of my completed installation.

15-04-2025I installed these in our old garage and loved them so much, I took them when we moved! They even hang “hard to hang” Townie Electra cruiser type bikes. They’re sturdy, and we’ve had our bikes hanging within a couple feet of many exotic cars (for over 2 years now). To Install: I attached 1x4’s to the drywall in our garage. (I used a stud finder and secured them, with my own screws, to the studs beneath the drywall.) Then I used the included-bolts and secured those into the 1x4’s. This allowed me to hang the bikes where I wanted them… and didn’t restrict me to hanging them directly over the studs. Note: I’m a 31 year old woman with basic knowledge of tools/drills/levels/etc so anyone should be able to do this.

> 3 dayYes, its expensive but if you want something that works great, is durable, and keeps your bikes out of the way, this is it! Perhaps you get what you pay for is an appropriate thought here.

> 3 dayThis is a great bike rack, I love the hinge so I can push the hanging bike side-to-side, and I like that the rack folds up when not in use. Its quite easy to install, but instructions could be more clear. There are some paper installation instructions included. As a purchaser in the US these contained measurements mostly in inches, also mentioning metric equivalent. Steady rack also has an installation page on their website (/pages/installation), which is better, all in metric. And from that page you can download an installation manual PDF, also metric, which seems to be the most detailed. There are slight differences between all three, however, and I ended up reading through all of them more than once. Some of the instructions called for a 10 mm drill bit to drill pilot holes. Some simply stated use a drill bit smaller than the screw size. None of the instructions told me the screw size. I eyeballed it and used a 15/64 drill bit. I think 10 mm would have been too wide. One slightly weird thing is that amongst the bits and pieces they provide are two rubber tips. They are only listed in one of the three forms of instructions, and it didnt even say what they are for. Overall Im very happy with the product, just wish the instructions were a bit better. Despite this, I was able to figure it out and install four of these without an issue, and am very happy about my new and improved bike storage!

> 3 dayI purchased two of these racks to hang my Specialized road bikes vertically on the interior wall of my spare bedroom. Installation was straight forward and once youve located the studs in the wall (highly recommend mounting to studs and not using the expansion anchors) the installation is very easy. The only criticism I would have is that the installation instructions are pretty lacking for people who dont have a lot of experience in handy work. If you dont have experience with similar installations, Id recommend getting a friend to help or hiring a professional. Aside from locating studs, youll want to be sure to avoid plumbing and electrical utilities in the wall. Once installed, the racks worked great! Unlike many other wall mounting methods, Im not worried about improperly installing the bike and potentially messing up the spokes or having the bike come crashing down. Mounting the bike on the racks is super easy, and my petite 5-0 girlfriend has no issues getting her bike into the rack. The rack is incredibly solid and I have no concerns of their quality. I would definitely recommend these racks to a friend. In fact, I have a friend that Ill be installing these racks for in her garage.

> 3 dayOur garage is already pretty cramped and we needed a good way to store our families bikes… 3 adult bikes, 4 kids bikes… these racks worked out great. It is very helpful to be able to swing them around. This allows us to pull out the bike we need and leave the ones we do not with relative ease.

> 3 dayI bought a Fat rack and a Classic rack through Amazon Warehouse. One of the racks shipped without the mounting hardware but I had similar bolts on hand and used those. I contacted the manufacturer via their website and they said they would ship out the hardware to me asap. These racks are fantastic. Loading the bikes into the racks is so easy, and it keeps the bikes out of the way. The Classic rack states it fits bikes with tires up to 2.4 width - thats just not possible. I have a mountain bike with 2.4 tires and I had to force it to fit even without the tires being properly inflated. The manufacturer should adjust this guidance. I had anticipated the mountain bike might not fit and ordered anyway since I have a road bike that fits the Classic rack easily. I mounted the racks into studs and found the process fairly easy although I did watch a few YouTube videos first. I will definitely be buying a MTB version for my other bike, these racks are so handy.
