20-11-2024We had bike hooks on an Ikea Elfa garage rack. It was hard to get a full size bike on to those and the rubber stuff on the hooks kept ripping and coming off. Major pain. Installed one of these for my wifes bike and it works great. I will be reconfiguring our wall storage to accommodate more of these. One caution: the listing says the standard size will work up to 2.4 tires. it wont Ive tried Furthermore, the box it comes in says maximum size is 2.2 I was able to get my sons 2.25 tires to work with very little room to spare, but my 2.35 front tire will NOT work. My advice -- if your tires are bigger than 2.2 get the mountain version.

> 3 dayI just finished mounting this rack to my wall. IMHO this is THE wall mount for a fat tire bike. I have a Kona with 5 wide tires. The bike weighs 35 lb. With this rack it is easy to get the bike in the rack. My suggestion however is to only mount this rack onto a stud. Forget the plastic drywall inserts included in the package. Good quality hardware is provided, just use a stud finder and mount directly to a wooden stud. I used a 3/16 drill bit for the upper bracket mounting pilot holes and a 1/8 drill bit for the 2 lower bracket. Bracket swivels a bit. The standard hook type wall mounts are not going to work for my 5 fat tire bike. If you gently squeeze the sides of the plastic bolt covers, the covers come off without breaking as mentioned in another review. This is not mentioned in the instructions. Well made product that works. Heres a photo of my completed installation.

17-11-2024The idea for this product is sheer genius: a rack that allows you to hang your bike on the wall and pivot it out of the way so that it takes up less room. The SteadyRack holds your bike securely and, unlike many wall hooks, doesnt put any tension on the wheel spokes. The racks sold here are black, as opposed to the grey or yellow models shown in some of the photos. If you have fenders installed on your bike, these racks simply wont work. The description refers to a version that will, but I couldnt find any evidence of its existence... The instructions make installing a single rack relatively painless. Unfortunately, they provide no guidance on how to space the racks when installing more than one. On a wall that has studs spaced 16 apart, it can be difficult to place a rack on every stud unless the handlebars are narrow (think: road racing bikes) or the racks are placed so that the handlebars are at different heights. If you have the space, placing racks on every other stud (i.e. 32 apart) is probably the way to go. The only real downside to this product, and the reason for the 4-star rather than 5-star rating, is the price. If you have 3-4 bikes to store, the cost starts to add up fast!

> 3 dayWe live in a small condo and have 2 bikes. They are folding bikes which makes it a bit more challenging. Storing them was always awkward at best before I found these racks. We used all sorts of other rack systems before. These ones are easy to install. They are SO practical. Very well designed. Super easy to put a bike in and out, no matter what kind of bike. They tuck out of the way when not in use. And they even rotate so I can store stuff between the bikes! I almost never rate things 5 stars but these racks have earned it!

> 3 dayThe good news - this is a seriously solid rack, well-engineered and built to last. In fact, Id say it is over-engineered and probably far more rugged and durable than it needs to be. It would be ideal for both commercial situations and home situations like mine. The semi-bad news - this rack can be bear to install into a block (masonry) wall. You need to drill 3/8-inch anchor holes in the block, which is not easy for most folks. A 3/8 bit is the top capacity of most home drills. I had to buy a new masonry bit and even though I generally know my way around tools, it was a struggled to drill clean holes that were level, etc. -- not impossible mind you, just a struggle. This rack would probably do fine with 1/4 tapcon screws holding it onto a wall, but thats part of the over-engineering I mentioned above. Once you get these bolts in, the rack isnt going anywhere. Also, the primary bolts holding this onto the wall are carriage bolts, which require a socket wrench to really get tight. I had the wrench, but again, its not common to every household. Those issues aside, I LOVE THIS BIKE RACK. I have two bikes on a wall in a newly renovated workshop (see the picture). I had to install them on a space between a sink and a shelf. Because of these racks, I can swing the bikes in either direction, depending on which thing I need to access. Because their footprints on the wall are so small, I will be able to mount other items on the walls around them - shovels, ladders, etc. Even my wife was impressed. One thing that took a long time to figure out - how to stagger the height of the two racks so that my bikes (which are almost the same size) wouldnt bump into each other. You MUST visit the companys website to download their suggestions for install, but even those are a bit useless to me as they are in metric and they offer two very different options for spacing. I ended up placing the racks about 16 inches apart and mounted the second one about 6 inches higher. That provided plenty of clearance between handle bars and pedals. Btw - it is not a very big deal to load the bike into the higher rack. It takes a bit more effort as you need to push the front wheel up onto the rack, but my wife was able to handle it easily. Overall, Im thrilled with these racks and I think anyone who can handle the issues of proper tools and the installation will love them too.

> 3 dayI bought a Fat rack and a Classic rack through Amazon Warehouse. One of the racks shipped without the mounting hardware but I had similar bolts on hand and used those. I contacted the manufacturer via their website and they said they would ship out the hardware to me asap. These racks are fantastic. Loading the bikes into the racks is so easy, and it keeps the bikes out of the way. The Classic rack states it fits bikes with tires up to 2.4 width - thats just not possible. I have a mountain bike with 2.4 tires and I had to force it to fit even without the tires being properly inflated. The manufacturer should adjust this guidance. I had anticipated the mountain bike might not fit and ordered anyway since I have a road bike that fits the Classic rack easily. I mounted the racks into studs and found the process fairly easy although I did watch a few YouTube videos first. I will definitely be buying a MTB version for my other bike, these racks are so handy.

19-11-2024Really easy to install and they are very sturdy. My electric fat-tire bikes are 70+lbs each and they are supported very well. Some people are complaining about the fenders getting in the way, but for me that wasn’t an issue. The metal support of the rack went right between the fender and tire and fit perfectly. Love the pivot feature which allows you to basically fold the bikes in against the wall so they don’t protrude out as far. The only complaint is the price, but you get what you pay for.

> 3 dayI was really really happy when I received my steady rack. It looked to be of good quality. I even told 3 of my friends about it. But when I went to install my Steady Rack Fender Version that’s when the problems started Once I figured out that I had to “bend” the Bike Fender supports to make it work/fit i was able to get my bike in the channel (The instructions didn’t tell you this part ). My bike rolls on nicely and steady rack seems to support the bike well. Now the bad… If you don’t have a socket driver set it’s almost impossible to screw in the bolts because the plastic housing is really close to where you screw the bolt heads so a regular Vise grips or wrench won’t work. Also (see photos) I measured my back wheel and the lower tire rest on the fender version was just a hair not wide enough. So the bike doesn’t pivot like they show because it just slips around and actually made small scratches on my rim!!! I Contacted Manufacturer asking for a larger size tire rest and they told me I could BUY one on their website for $9.99 each plus ship! Not happy with this!!! They charge ALOT for this product $$189 for two racks and for this price Steady Rack needs to stand behind their products better. This little wheel rest is a cheap piece of plastic that Probably costs them .25 cents to make.they could have made a customer happy. So this product went from being something that could have been great to being a big disappointment

> 3 daySpace saving, easy to use and super strong. This is the best bike storage option Ive found. I have 6 bikes. 3 ebikes and 3 regular. The ebikes are about 40lbs. These racks work great. Easy to put the bikes away and get them down. Saves me so much space. All the bikes are in a 6 foot space of wall. They stick out about 3 feet and I can push them closer to the wall if I need to. This is a very excellent product. Pure genius.

> 3 dayGreat rack but missing hardware
