VMware Fusion 4 [Old Version]

> 24 hourVMWare Fusion 4 is a great product. Easy to install and setup, and the performance is great. Im running it on my 2 month old Macbook Pro 15, and barring games, I can run all the Windows-based applications that I used to, including heavy hitters like Visual Studio 2010. Conducting VM management is a breeze (taking snapshots, deleting snapshots, reverting to a previous snapshot, etc). The best feature is the Unity view, in which Fusion will actually run your Windows apps in their own windows on OSX and even place them in the Launchpad window. This allows a more seamless experience, and is really handy if you plan to only use Fusion to run a handful of programs. The other really nice feature is that within the Windows VM, you can access all your files on your Mac, so transferring/sharing files between your Mac and your Windows VM is really easy.

> 24 hourI need to use Visio and Access on my MAC, and fusion is a better solution than buy a PC. The version 4 is optimized for Lion, and it looks like use less resources than the previous version, it runs Windows 7 without limitation, and I believe it is faster and I can keep open on a desktop meanwhile working on another, without any problem of memory.

> 24 hourI have had no problems running VMWare Fusion 4 with a Windows 98 and various Linux installations. But...Im not happy about the fact that it requires a paid upgrade only a year later in order to maintain compatibility with Mountain Lion. I was happy using VirtualBox for virtualization prior to VMWare, and will be going back to that stable, reliable and free Open Source solution (available from Oracle).

> 24 hourIf you buy this with a Mac and expect a rebate, dont hold your breath. Ive tried twice and both times got stiffed. I have heard from others that this is some kind of racket with this company - promise a rebate and then never send it. If its worth it to you at full price, knock yourself out, but plan on not getting your rebate.

> 24 hourIn rating these two products, my opinions are based on Experience with Installation, configuration, migration, and conversion on a new iMAC running Lion OS (16 gig RAM) and BOTH Software packages.

> 24 hourFusion 4 works well, as has been stated in numerous other reviews. And overall I like it. But I do find it annoying on some levels.

> 24 hourThis is a nice safe way of running windows programs on a Mac without committing yourself to percentages of disc space or having to start and stop the computer. It runs really well, particularly with my odd combination Windows and Microsoft and Corel programs, all from very different dates. Wouldnt swap it for anything else - and it suits an non-techie person like me.
