WD Blue Solid State Drive

DADDY COOL
> 3 dayUpdate: With regard to the WD Blue SSD.. Zero Noise compared to any platter hard drive. But that would be applicable to any SSD. Speed is as promised. I think once you go SSD, there is no turning back.. If anyone has the intention of imaging their current PC to a new PC with this drive, I would recommend the problem free EaseUS backup and system transfer. I unfortunately have tried the top 5 recommendation and all failed or had several learning curves which became to time consuming. For $29 the home version is all you need..

> 3 dayNow, I cant actually say much as to how it fairs against other SSDs as this is the first Ive ever used. Howerver, after 5 years of putting off upgrading my main gaming system to an SSD, I am NOT disappointed. Boot times improved 70%, framefrates increased 5-10% depending on the game and are also MUCH more stable. Load times are incredible, and its really light. Do some research, buy the right SSD for you, but this one is worth the purchase if you decide. WD has been my go-to company for years on HDDs, and their SSDs do not disappoint.

06-06-2025Works Great in my Dell Latitude E7470. I was very surprised to see that Dell only offered drives up to 500G in their Latitude Laptops. Thats not nearly enough space for an active field engineer. So I got this because of the WD Brand name as well as having no issues with their products in the past. I popped out the original drive, put this drive in, and used an external enclosure to transfer the original drives contents to this one. Worked perfectly from the start, Great Speed and no more worries about De-fragmenting. Flash drives are the Future people, and this is top of the line. Just remember, nothing is forever, so make sure to take complete and frequent backups

Greater than one weekBought this one for games from my Steam library to cut down on load times. Didnt cut it down by much, but definitely gave me reduced load times.Dont remember which games it was exactly-- I had TERA, CS:GO, RAGE, Aion, Mortal Kombat X, maybe Team Fortress 2, other stuff like that-- larger-scale games along the lines of modern First-Person Shooters, action-MMORPGs and 3D-graphics-style 2D Fighting Games... Right now Im using it primarily for ARK: Survival Evolved and I can generally finish map loading on my best friends ARK server (on the Ragnarok map, somewhere between Day 3300 and Day 3600 in terms of ingame day/night cycles elapsed, and hes been building a lot) in about 25 to 35 seconds tops. Havent had any hardware trouble with it so far and its been installed for at least a half a year. I named it ARK Drive with Windows 10s drive management in a nod to the storyline in RAGE.

> 3 dayOther reviewers have probably written much better reviews than I ever could so Im just going to keep this short and sweet. Should you buy this? Yes. Yes you should. If youre still booting your computer on an old hard disk drive, do yourself a favor and stop. It really will shorten the boot time for your computer by an exponential amount. If you store your files on this hard drive, it will also make it faster to pull up those. You probably already know this, which is why you are looking at SSDs in the first place Im sure. So I say again, if you are unsure of whether or not you should buy this and you are still using a HDD to boot your computer, buy this. Its worth it. Trust me (and all the other reviewers)

> 3 dayThis really makes a difference. Im not so concerned with how fast my PC boots...I just hit the button and make coffee anyway. But I do 3D graphics and with the program and the folder of assets on this drive, the program flies. Combined with a WD Blue 1TB 7200 HDD the computer is much faster all around. For most users, unless you are very impatient when first booting up and an extra 30 seconds is really that valuable, you probably dont need and SSD. The same money will buy you a fast HDD with 8 times the capacity. Whether or not it is right for you depends on your needs. Just to boot fast to me makes no sense. But if your app demands access fast and you are relying on swap file due to limited RAM this will make a difference.

08-06-2025Im getting an average of only 166.4 MB/s out of this drive right now, however I put it into an aged Gateway NV44 that uses DDR2 PC6400, with a slower SATA 3Gb/s header & a T4300 processor that is not a power house. Start times are much faster, making for a more responsive system despite the older interfaces & slower memory.

> 3 dayA lot smaller than I thought but it was a pain to install because it kept on popping up I had to hold it down and I knew that big data screwdriver to get to screw into the Hall wasnt awful but it was still difficult it continues to work this day at maximum performance so far not letting me down

Greater than one weekExcellent product! I bought two so I could upgrade both drives in my custom Toshiba Satellite P500. Works like a charm, and am very happy with the boosted performance. Space was another big upgrade - I went from two drives totaling 530 Gb storage space to nearly 2 Tb with this pair. I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade to SSD. I plan to buy a couple more so I can make the same upgrades in my desktop PCs. Ive always had very good luck with Western Digital products over the years, and these have been no exception! A++!

> 3 dayI upgraded to this from a 750GB, 7,200RPM hard drive, and my boot time, which I didnt time either way, went from around 30-45 seconds, to around 5 seconds. 10 tops, from a cold boot to getting online and browsing the web. Its insane how much faster my computer is with this guy installed. I upgraded from an AMD dual core CPU with 4GB RAM to a Xeon quad core with 16GB of RAM, but while it was a faster computer, the boot and drive times really werent changed, because a hard drive can only spin so fast. Maybe there are better SSDs (I mean, Im sure anything with NVMe is going to be better) but if youre coming from a hard drive, this is a great first step.
