> 3 dayIn the end these plugs are a good product for the price. Like just about every tech product Ive ordered from China, the instructions appear to lack editing by a native fluent speaker. Another problem, also typical, is that the Android store has multiple apps that have similar confusing names; use Smart Lifes QR code or go with the icon of the blue house with the beaming icon in the corner of the icon. Also typical, the setup and user interfaces of Amazon Alexa, Google Home and the manufacturers own site are in flux and the teeny stamp sized instruction pages are out of date and only somewhat useful to configure the products. This is as much the fault of Google and Apple as the manufacturer. Luckily you can search online and get them working. So far, the outlets work fine and are really quite handy. They click loudly so I hope the solenoid switches last. Also, the first time I plugged in each plug neither of them powered up. Simply unplugging and re-inserting them solved that. Weird. Alexa App on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) was pretty easy to setup and definitely works much better, responds with near instantaneous speed typical of Alexa. Google Home was a total nightmare due mainly to Google Homes arcane and nearly secret menu to simply add a plug and link between Google Home and the Smart Life app. Once setup, Google Home then has this way cumbersome two step process every time you issue a command where it hands you off to the Smart Life app, which then converses in its own slow-paced voice...and then wants to keep chatting w/ you every time you turn a light on/off. Theyll eventually figure it out. Although they display the IFTTT logo in their listing, IFTTT is not appearing among the list of supported Home Automation services in the Smart Life app. Maybe its another hour of deciphering the mysteries of cheap Chinese-made iOT gadgets. The Smart Life App is a privacy invasion fire storm - to setup and use the app you must agree to let them track and share your age, height, weight, birthdate, sleep patterns, location and activities, to name a few! Theres almost nothing they dont require in order to setup the app, including WiFi and old style 2 GHz network, i.e. if you have a router thats under 5 years old you might have to configure your mobile device to use the old 2GHz mode. After that, your mobile device can go back to using a modern 5GHz network. I control these using Amazon Dash Wand, a $20 device that includes a $20 credit. Amazon Wand deftly handles turning on/off lights faster than any family member, roommate or bedtime partner ever will.

> 3 dayThese little guys are simple, but great :) got them for our Christmas tree, but weve continued using them with a lamp and some leftover Christmas lights we have up. Theyre easy to use with the Smart Life app, and I even hooked up some easy shortcuts with IFTTT, including the ability to have them turn on when I get home! Definitely recommend these

> 3 daySet up was very simple. -1star for requiring you to set up an additional app. -1 star for not allowing you to utilize the switch as well. I wanted to use this for our bedroom lights (lamps) which plug in to an outlet controlled by a switch. I understand that the unit obviously couldnt work if the switch is off, but Id like to be able to come into the room and flip the switch to turn them on. Instead when you flip the switch the lights stay off, then you have to wait about 10 seconds and ask Alexa to turn on the lights. Kind of obnoxious. I wanted to be able to flip them on with the switch, then after rading in bed or something be able to turn them off via voice control. The base setting on this outlet when it receives power is off, whereas if it were on or setting adjustable this unit would be great.

> 3 daySummary Pros: -Google Home compatible after downloading the SmartLife app and linking to your assistance -No need for additional steps/requests (turn on x outlet works immediately) -quality outlets at a competitive price -No lag in turning on (though my Home is near the outlets so perhaps distance may affect this in further rooms) Cons: -only one Smart plug will fit in a traditional 2 outlet setup (however you CAN stilluse the 2nd outlet with a traditional plug) Full review: Being brand new to home assistants (specifically Google Home) I purchased this Smart Plug set of 2 as a trial based on the price. I do not have a hub and have heard mixed reviews of hubless items- specifically that they are not as easy to direct and require an additional request. This turned out to not be the case and Im definitely ordering more! First: packaging is simple yet effective. Each comes in its own box with instructions, paired in a little bag. Setup was simple. I decided to test one on my fish tank light. Once plugged in it immediately entered setup mode (instructions for reset to use elsewhere are of course provided) then I downloaded the SmartLife app through Google Home. After a simple click to add a new device it located the outlet and I was able to name it. This was the big test. I had heard non-hub devices require you to ask Google to access the app before requesting to turn on the device but this was not necessary. You simply ask to turn on x light and immediately it does so. Im very pleased at this product and highly recommend it! Just keep in mind that you can only use one smart plug in an outlet as the diameter is too large to fit two (however this DOES NOT block you from being able to use the other outlet with a traditional plug). Smart home, on a budget!

> 3 dayI bought these as a gift for a friend. When I tried to set them up, I found that his Spectrum-installed router had assigned the exact same name to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. for some reason, the band selected always defaults to the 5GHz. I was unable to find a way around the issue. I kept them, and they work perfectly on 2.4GHz at my home.

> 3 dayEdit 11/11/17: Downgraded to 3 stars after having used these for some time. I still like it, and think its still value for money considering the other products out there. The issue Im having is its glitchy. Sometimes goes offline for no reason, requiring me to unplug and replug. And the timer function is only about 80% reliable- sometimes plain does not turn on. Have not identified any trends, its a cr@pshoot- some day lights turn on and some days they done. And often unplugging and replugging rectifies it for a few weeks. The Alexa function and phone control seem to be reliable so long as plug is online- but I wouldnt trust the timer for vital systems. Original post: Frankly, Im blown away and one part of me is still waiting for something to fail but it hasnt yet. Cheap, small, simple device with quick set up. Just plug it in, download the app to phone, connect the two and youre good to go. The app allows for basic functions like timer etc; scenes that can be triggered by sunset/sunrise, humidity etc- but have not experimented with these functions yet. Once you assign a name for each plug, works seamlessly with Alexa. And for less than 30 bucks for two, seems like a bargain compared to the other branded ones. Instruction manual wasnt helpful, with the usual bad English, but its not hard to figure out. Bought a 2nd set.

> 3 dayPurchased these to remotely power cycle up wireless cams and these work perfectly. We had a power outage and turning the power strip off in the house made the wireless ip cam to refresh the ip. Turning the strip off, then back on, resets the connection then the wireless ip cameras come back on line!

Greater than one weekUPDATE: 10-27 Stopped working with Alexa. I had to factory reset delete the skill re enable the skill still wont work. Basically a POS. Really sad because at first I thought these were junk, then they worked (after some effort) now they stopped working with Alexa and I cannot get them to function properly. Crap, stay away from this product you get what you pay for. I had trouble getting one of the devices to connect to wifi even though they were both in the same place when I was setting them up. A second plug barely fits if it has a ground. Will update after usage.

> 3 dayGood price on these. The only hold back on the 5th star was the app that came with the plugs, didnt have a schedule to turn off and on the switches at a specific time, so had to use IFTTT to set it up. Again for the price they worked great after I got it setup

Greater than one weekThese plugs work great with my Alexa. You download the appfor the smart plug so you can connect it to your wifi. Then you use the Alexa app to discover it, name it, add it to a group of outlets/lights whatever. I can say Alexa turn on the dining room lamp and just the one lamp turns on, or I can say Alexa turn on the dining room lights and then all the lights I have set up for voice/wireless control turn on. Awesome, easy to set up and Id buy them again.
