> 24 hourI followed the instructions to the letter. My internet router is the model WiOn suggested works the best. My switch could never find my internet router. Important note: to reset the switch, you have to also TURN OFF THE WION APP to start completely over fresh. Now the switch works great.

> 24 hourWow! More than I expected. Honestly I bought this so we wouldnt have to squeeze behind the armoire to get to the outlet to turn on the Xmas lights. We use to bribe the kids to turn on the lights now we all fight to turn them on. Has a great timer as well so you can program the lights to go on and off at a certain time and a whole bunch of other options I havent even explored. Im thinking I could even use this after the holidays. You might think you can probably pick something up at the dollar store that does something similar but no this goes way beyond. Im a very frugal person and I feel this was worth every dollar. Well honestly Ive been only using it for two weeks but so far Im very happy.

> 24 hourI bought two of these to use for Christmas lights and both work perfectly. The 2nd one was a little bit harder to set up until I unplugged my 1st one, then it set up instantly just like my first one did. I use the timer for the entire week and that has worked flawlessly and reliably. Im very happy with these and would recommend them for sure.

> 24 hourLets just say I have wasted an hour trying to get it to work. Customer service helpfully sent me this email information which should have been included in the original instructions. Since I dont know how to disable my 5 GHZ band on my router (installed by my cable company) and am tired of working on this, I will return it. USES BAND WIDTH: 2.4GHz Band width if 5.0 or higher will not connect. Check your router settings, try resetting your router. If your router has dual band width then you will need to disable the higher. Here are some troubleshooting suggestions for you to consider. For initial set-up be within. 3 ft. of your router. Also, you need to look in your phone settings in data usage – allow permission for WiOn app to use data. With the WiOn device hard-wired or plugged in, the process to add a WiOn device is: 1. Go into your phones SETTINGS 2. Then WI-FI settings 3. Look for a new network named ECO### and connect to it NOTE: IF IT SAYS CANNOT FIND INTERNET – JUST MOVE ON 4. NEXT STEP: (this is when you open WiOn app) (Note: if it does not find the router then hit the + button on your WiOn app to add your router) Follow the on-screen directions to add your country, zip code/area code, name of router(this is name of your network) and Wi-Fi password, your phone will then attach that WiOn device to your local network, the new device will now be listed on the main screen of the app and ready to use. If it does not connect: Delete the WiOn app and reinstall it. NOTE: IPhone users must go to app store to install new app not the app that is stored on the Cloud. Then once it is reinstalled go into your iphone settings (not the WiOn app settings), go to WiFi and see if a new network called “ECO” followed by some numbers appears. If it does, connect to that network and follow the onscreen instructions, which should ultimately lead you into the WiOn app and your device will appear.

> 24 hourUPDATE: Thanks to a review from another person, I finally figured out how to make mine work with alexa. The key is the plug needs to have a 1 word name (in WiOn app). If you use 2 words, it wont connect to alexa. Now that its working with alexa, its a great product. The company isnt great though. No support and their iOS app is the worst UI ive ever seen. Original review: Use this for my x-mas lights on the patio. Now I can turn them on and off without going outside to plug/unplug it, which is awesome. I use the timer usually. Only issue is that Alexa wont find the device, so I cannot use voice commands. I have the skills connected, but the device wont be found.

> 24 hourIt works fine when the device is close to the router, once you are a good distance from the router the wifi signal is not present. Given that this is an exterior plug it probably has better weather shielding compared to indoor models, that might decrease the effective range of the wifi. Had to return mine since it didnt serve my purpose, will stick with my programmable plug for now until better wifi is made available. Maybe incorporate an external antenna into the case design like a smartphone which might improve wifi reception?

> 24 hourI bought three WiOn products five months ago and extremely happy with all of them. To minimize writing, my reviews for all three are very similar. What a product! What a convenience! I bought this and WiOn 50050 and 50052 and they have made my life Sooooo much easier. Im using 50050 for the lights on the front porch which is controlled from a switch inside the front door, use 50052 for the living room and this one for outside lights which light up outside landscape. All controlled from one app on my iPhone. Although they are all scheduled and dont need me to mess with them every day, but I, often, override the schedule and change them as needed; from home or if Im miles away. As long as I have internet connection, which is almost anywhere, Im connected. Writing this review five months after purchase and very very happy with them. Highly recommended.

> 24 hourI bought these to use with our Christmas lights. They are very easy to set up and even easier to control. The options are endless as far as programming it to turn on with a timer or controlling it with your device. Ive been using it for about 10 days now and love them. Weve even connected it to Alexa. My kids love to turn the tree and outside lights on and off through Alexa. The cost is so worth me not heading out at 11:30pm every night in the freezing cold to unplug lights. One thing I did learn through looking at reviews and FAQ is that in order to connect to Alexa you need to name the device with one word.

> 24 hourThis would have been a 5 star review, except for one major issue: software. I have 4 of these outlets and they have worked dependably and consistently for several years. However, the WiOn app hasn’t been updated in quite some time, and it no longer works with my iPhone running iOS16. So… I’m unable to set up and program the outlets anymore, rendering them useless. I’ve contacted customer service three times (both email and voicemail; couldn’t talk with an human) and have received no response. I can’t recommend this item until the software issue is resolved. UPDATE: WiOn has updated their software to work with the new iOS update. All is fine, and I reiterate the complement I made: it works reliably and consistently. Highly recommend WiOn outlets.

> 24 hourIn short, I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it again. The reason I took off 1 star is that although the outlet works just fine and is reasonably priced, the whole idea of a smart outlet is to be able to be controlled via an app. Since most people will buy this first, then download or even look at the app after receiving it, I thought this might be helpful for people to be aware of the one shortcoming I found. My use case was very simple, though probably fairly common for most people looking for an outdoor smart outlet, controlling Xmas lights. I simply wanted them to go on at sunset, and go off at a predetermined time, like 1am. At least with the Android version of the app for this, it isnt possible. You can do on at sunset, off at sunrise (which seems excessive to have Xmas lights on at 4 am), or you can turn on at a certain time and off at a certain time, but cannot combine the 2. Other than that small issue, everything works fine. It pairs fairly easily, and works like it is supposed to.
