> 3 dayI have had this working over the winter to turn on the outside lights on my patio. The construction of the outlet is pretty good, it connected right up and had zero issues working with the amazon alexa. The reason I gave it three stars is the app. The outlet has been deleted from the app 3 times already on it own. All of a sudden alexa says the device is not responding and it is because the outlet is no longer recognized as a device in Wions app. I have to go back out and set the outlet up again, then put it back in the alexa app and everything works again. Its extremely annoying, but I guess if I would have spent a little more I wouldnt have to reset my outlet every so often.

> 3 dayThis was easy to set up and is easy to use. The only problem that I have is that it is not accessible from outside of your home wifi network. I use this on my covered back porch to turn my string lights on and off instead of having to unplug them each time. I am looking into buying another one for my front porch. EDIT: 2 years later and I am still using this. I have it set to turn on some porch lights on my front porch every day at 6pm and turn off at 11 every night. This has been used daily for 2 years and works perfectly.

> 3 dayThe product works great. It connects every time. I set it up for my outdoor lights, and I can now set them on a schedule and turn them on and off via my smartphone or Amazon Alexa. As of 06/09/2017, they finally added Amazon Alexa compatibility. If the company makes a new version, I wish that they could control the input plugs separately from your smart phone or with Alexa. The way the product works now is, if you plug in different items in the two in-going plugs, they work in sync with each other and cannot be controlled separately.

> 3 dayWorks as advertised. I purchased 2 to control my landscape lights with the existing transformers. The one farthest from the router required the addition of a Wifi repeater, but otherwise worked flawlessly. The phone interface only allows setting on and off times astronomical and or specific program times. If you want to have the the timer turn on at sunset and turn off at a specific time, use these instructions that Southwire sent me via email: You can hard set your off time to whatever you want it does not have to follow any set example: Here is example to follow setting WION to cover Dusk until Dawn: First you set an ASTRONOMIC TIMER on at dusk and off at dawn. Then you set a PROGRAMMABLE TIMER on at 10:59pm and off at 11pm. Both timers will work together to make your lights go on at dusk, and off at 11pm. Basically, it works like this: 1. At dusk the device is told to turn on, so it powers up. 2. At 10:59pm it is also told to turn on, but it is already on, so nothing changes. 3. At 11:00pm the device is told to turn off, so it shuts off the power. 4. At dawn it is also told to turn off, but it is already off so nothing happens.

> 3 dayI had a similar unit for Xmas lights control and couldnt find it. I went to order another since I didnt have the time look through all the stuff in our garage (its there somewhere). I found these units on AMZ and they were the half the price of my other unit, so I said what the heck order two of them. I figured if they didnt work, I would return them to AMZ with their ironclad guarantee. Didnt have to, worked as described and quite happy with them. These units do not require a hub and you install them with your router. Havent quite figured out they do other then the units first power up as a router and then you connect and they become a pass through to your regular router. I have other devices that use this method and it seems a bit odd but it works. Either way, no hub or setting up a network account with someone. They have been in for several days not and work great. I now have a very interesting Networks, my hub system, Wifi bulbs using a network account to store schedule and settings and now these devices. As long as I can keep it straight as to what device belongs to which network, should be good.

> 3 dayTLDR; App is terrible and no support from manufacturer, but works okay via voice control and timer as long as you have wifi network that broadcasts separate 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSIDs. Will NOT work if you have a network that has a single SSID for both bands (e.g. Google WiFi and many mesh networks) Full review: I used two of these switches for about 10 months. As long as you have a WiFi network with a dedicated 2.4GHz SSID it will work, though the app is by far the worst app of all the smart device apps I have (out of ~10). Assuming you do get it setup and dont make any changes to WiFi settings it works well enough on a timer and with Alexa. After switching my WiFi network to Google WiFi, can no longer do the setup to connect switches to the network. There is no support from the manufacturer so you cant actually get help from them. Have gone over 3 weeks of emailing support contact without a response. In doing my own trouble shooting and research it seems that the device is not capable of working on any network where both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are broadcast using the same SSID. I even tried forcing my phone to be connected to WiFi on the 2.4GHz band in order to do the setup (had to turn off nearby Google WiFi puck so I connected to the 2.4GHz band from a router farther away), but this still did not work. Very frustrating because the app does not provide any feedback or really show anything - there are no settings or other things you can try within it. It seems like an app that was created by a complete novice as a minimum viable product and has not been touched since. In my home smart devices including multiple Alexa echos, Google Home, Phillips Hue, TP Link, WeMo, Ecobee, Ring, FDT View, Amazon Cloud Cam.... all worked seamlessly with transition to Google WiFi, with these WiOn switches being the only problematic ones.

> 3 dayThis just doesnt work. You could spend hrs trying to get it to connect to Wi-Fi. By the time you either give up or do get an actual working device, you will have already bought a different brand. STAY AWAY! of the 6 I ordered, only 2 ended up working and then 1 died over the years. Figured to retry my luck only to relive the hell of trying to get it to connect and then ultimately accepting defeat.

> 3 dayBeing an engineer, I was disappointed that I could not get the device set up and resorted to calling customer support. The first person could not get it to work, so they connected me to someone else. I could not get it to connect to the device. The bottom line was that the customer support person says that it just does not work with some smart phones, and that I should try another one to get it set up. Trouble is I live alone. I will have to see if I can get another person to my house with a smart phone so I can connect the WION device to my router. These are the steps I took: 1. Plugged in the WION device. Blue light blinking. 2. Connected my Android cell phone to the WION WiFi signal. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. 3. Started the WION app. It had a popup that said Looking for Router.... That is all it would do. Customer support said to click on the Plus sign to manually add it, but when I did that it would just beep at me with no other action. 4. This is a pain in the you know where!

> 3 daySome of these reviews are really bad. I guess its the same with most everything - people throw away instructions then cant figure out how to reconfigure. Dudes have all the time in the world to get on here and leave a bad review but not enough time to google how to fix their issue or search for instructions. Well Im here to buy a third one! These work great. I use the ECO Plugs smartphone app and Alexa. -BroSun

Greater than one weekEasy to program and it works well. I have two of them in my two houses, each run on different wi-fi/internet, I can control both from my Samsung Android very well. I like the Timer that I can add any day/time for start and end. Do not have by dates though, but I do not need programming by date either. If you have your network name hidden, then you need to type in the network name (and the pwd) on the WiOn apps so that it can find your network. Thats is the only difficulty I ran across.
