There are lots of cutting mats out there but I saw this one had a lot of five star reviews so I thought Id give it a try. After some extensive use already, Im going to add my five star rating to the pile. This is a great mat for craft work. Ive been using it for cutting foam for some costumes and I have to press hard to cut all the way through the foam but you can hardly notice any cuts in the surface. I like the double-sided feature in case the surface ever does start to get worn out I can flip it over and start with a new mat. It is a little heavy but I like that it gives you a real solid surface to work on.

As a crafter expanding my horizons, i LOVE this mat as it, in conjunction with other tools has assisted in opening a door to new adventures. There is an initial chemical smell upon opening it, but hey, of course there is, because it is a chemical based product, so dont let that be part of your review unless you were expecting rosemary and thyme, which would be bizarre to begin with. I have a small crafting space, so the variety of sizes allowed me to select the perfect mat for my space. I am also struggling with the realization of aging, arthritis and joint pain, so being able to use the rolling cutter instead of the pinking shears is helpful, and this mat aids in that process. I cannot attest to how long it will last, but for now, after an initial heavy use project, it appears brand new.

My husband got me this to cut stained glass on. I waited to leave a review until I had used it. For my purposes it works great. A glass cutter does not leave deep cuts on a mat most of the time, as its only meant to score the glass, its not supposed to cut all of the way through but its nice to have just in case and provides a nice work space, while protecting my craft table. I appreciated the follow up from the company with clear instructions on how to care for my cutting mat, I might have stored it improperly otherwise. I did not notice a strong odor with my purchase as others have noted but I am not sensitive to smells, with all of the chemicals I use in making glass and jewelry pieces, I really cant be picky about it, so I have no advice on that. If I were not using it for one specific purpose I can see it being useful for other things, such as trimming metal, paper and assembling models. I think this is a great product for any crafter.

Good price for what you get. The only thing I would worry about is if the yellow lines end up blurring over time because those don’t seem to be part of the self-healing component of the product. We’ll see how it goes the longer I use it. If it fades to the point of unusability, I will update this review

I only give this mat 4 starts because when it arrived it smelled HORRIBLE. It had a very very strong plastic scent. With me being pregnant I was concerned the smell was never going to go away. I left it outside over night and by the next morning the smell had diminished but I could still smell it. I left it over night one more night and the smell has gone away completely. I will say that this mat does feel and look very durable.

I purchased the mat for polymer clay and it has worked great. I use a sharp blade on the mat several times a week and it has worked as advertised. There are no cut marks on the mat. The clay has a tendency to leave some stain on the mat but that is no big deal for me because the mat was not made for clay. The markings on the mat help me cut and measure the clay. I am very satisfied.

Before i purchased i read the reviews for this, the good and the bad. I have to say, i have had no problem with damaging the mat. i had to cut a painted fabric this weekend which took more pressure cutting through the material and the mat held up beautifully. So much better than my old plastic mat that was cut up and starting to snag on delicate and knit materials. Ive had the mat a few weeks now and i love it, its well worth the money and better than others i have used.

I hesitated to buy this particular cutting mat because it is one of the more expensive ones out there. Finally realized that I would be using this item a great deal in my leather craft work, so decided to ignore the other cheaper ones available and purchase this one. I am glad that I made that decision, now that I have had this mat for some time. Very satisfied with it.
