This was a lot larger than I had anticipated (though that was stupid on my part for not paying close attention to the dimension), but it works great, and actually is perfect for what I need. Because it is so large, I can actually use it - more or less - as a table top for all my other craft equipment (I do 3D paper crafts); this way, they wont scratch up my actual table top. It heals quickly (most of the time, I cannot even tell I had made a cut), and is perfect what it is supposed to do.

This is the first time I have used a cutting mat. It is quite convenient in marking and measuring squares and getting them square. Much easier than the pencil, ruler, scissors system. It seems to heal over the cut marks well except when I repeatedly cut squares of the same size. I do rotate the mat around to keep from wearing it out but I am a little concerned about how long this will endure with continuous use. Im glad it has a guarantee! I have been using this mat almost continuously since I received it on March 2. This is one of the handiest quilting tools in my box. I have finished 2 quilts in the past two months because I can now cut several layers of fabric at one time. I love the 18x24 size because it is big enough to cut several strips without moving the mat and small enough to rotate on the table top in the cutting process.The only thing I regret is that I did not find one of these years earlier. I does heal back together nicely.

I use it for making some of my crafts with, especially cutting out fabric. I use a ruler, but then fine tune the measurements using this board. Love, love this board.

Perfect size and great value for the money!

As a crafter expanding my horizons, i LOVE this mat as it, in conjunction with other tools has assisted in opening a door to new adventures. There is an initial chemical smell upon opening it, but hey, of course there is, because it is a chemical based product, so dont let that be part of your review unless you were expecting rosemary and thyme, which would be bizarre to begin with. I have a small crafting space, so the variety of sizes allowed me to select the perfect mat for my space. I am also struggling with the realization of aging, arthritis and joint pain, so being able to use the rolling cutter instead of the pinking shears is helpful, and this mat aids in that process. I cannot attest to how long it will last, but for now, after an initial heavy use project, it appears brand new.

If I learned anything from her it was that she was glad I bought the larger size, the 12 x 18 was not big enough for her, so decide before-hand and go with the large if in doubt. My wife said the pad made trimming to patterns flawless, easy, and fast. It says self healing and so it must be because she has cut on it and I dont see the tracks. She bought one of the wheel cutters designed with this kind of pad in mind. The pad seemed expensive to me, but a proper tool applied to the product whether it works on wood or fabric leaves its full value represented in the finished product. This tool measured up. The fact my wife loved the choice was a nice takeaway too.

I finally got a chance to use my cutting mat. This is my first time using a cutting mat, so I can not compare to any others. I bought this one based on all the good reviews. It has definitely made my crafting much easier and I am glad I purchased it. My only concern about it is the self healing factor. I noticed there are two cuts in the mat didnt seem to self heal If I run my nail over the cut in the mat it is not smooth. Is this normal?
