Its alright for gaming till the heat catches up to it. Frame rate depends on the game. It can go potato on the newer games and ok on the older games. Overall not really a gaming laptop. Its disappointing while gaming. Recently I opened it up to reapply heatsink paste to discover few screws were missing on the fan and tape wasnt sticking to hold the battery wires.

Purchased based on impressive specs (not for gaming). However, no faster than very old laptops running single-core i7 processors. Hate the keyboard! There are two VERY TINY delete keys hidden among top row or within number keypad, but to access the latter, you must turn off number lock. If you are looking for portability, this isnt it! The power brick weighs nearly as much as the laptop, which they dont tell you in the specs. First Acer in my stable, and if this is characteristic of the brand, will be my last. Not at all impressive for something touted as a gaming machine.

For what it costed me, its amazing for what it does. I can now play the games I wanna play on high settings, all with great performance that I crave. Only real downside Ive found is it gets REALLY hot, like really hot. I got a temp measuring app and while Im playing games like Total War Warhammer 2, High settings with Ultra Unit cap, and the temperature gets into the high 90s Celsius. So to keep the laptop cool most of the time, you have to prop it up so it vents out hot air while setting the fans to full blast constantly. So if you have a great cooling system to help bring that temperature down to a manageable state for longevity, then I recommend this if you cant afford better laptops.

I purchased this gaming computer for my sons big Christmas present. The components list was amazing and I couldnt pass it up for the price. If you arent gaming, this machine is a wonder. Its fast and the screen is amazing. But when gaming, the overheating issues begin. I cant believe that the overheating is such a common issue and Acer still hasnt addressed it. Using Acers own Predator Sense monitoring program, I was hitting high 90s CPU temps. I lowered the settings on the games, lowered the refresh rate (one of the main reasons I purchased this laptop was because of the 144hz refresh rate) and even purchased a laptop cooling pad but nothing I did would keep those temps from getting too high. Frame rate drops and stuttering sucks during gaming and ruins the experience. I contacted Amazon Customer Service and they have shipped out a replacement. I will update once I receive the replacement.

Laptop ran well right out of the box, was charged about 70% on arrival. Packaging nice and sturdy. Laptop works great, have had for almost a year and it is still working the same as new. Screen quality is good, runs really well. Can play newest games on High graphics easily. Several games on Ultra-High are limited to 60 fps, but most people who buy laptops for gaming dont expect more. Fans do run very loudly though, dont expect to game quietly. You can manually control the fans, but I find it best to let the laptop choose, as it is very good at knowing what speed to set the fans to. It doesnt run the fans high until you get into games, and it will slowly decrease after exiting the game rather than dropping the fans immediately. Its also a very cool-looking laptop in my opinion.

The laptop is fine and all but the lid at certain angles, will hit the hibernation button causing the computer to go fully into hibernation. Doesnt sound too bad except it happens often and can take 5 to 10 seconds to get back into what you are doing.

For the money you cant beat this laptop for gaming. 16GB of ram, a nvidia 1060, 144hz screen... Its why I bought it even with the overheating warnings. I gave this a few good days of game time and found that all games on any settings would send the processors temperature up to the high 80s and at times the 90s. Now this is in a hotel room with the AC on and me shaking from the cold. I also bought a cooling pad and still this didnt do much, but Im sure it kept it from tipping over the red. The GPU wasnt overheating. So this issue is with the cooling on the CPU. So after much annoyance, I finally noticed that the CPU was boosting to full throttle 3.4ghz, anytime a game ran, no matter the game or load on the CPU. That made no sense to me, as this being a laptop, why would u max a CPUs heat production if the speed wasnt required? So I found a program that was able to turn off the CPUs Turbo feature. This was a night and day difference in heat being produced by the CPU and the fans were so quite after this. I tested the game I was playing which was now running better do to less heat in the CPU, and I tested Rise of the Tomb Raider, on highest, and it was smooth. I havent tried to replace the thermal paste on the CPU as some suggest, but I will, and see if the CPUs Turbo will work then. However, if my games remain smooth, why boost and create more heat?

I was excited to receive this item; unfortunately, the left side speaker was not working out of the box. After following the troubleshooting methods recommended by Acer customer service to no avail, decided to return to Amazon for a replacement. The Acer methodology of using an agent that barely speaks English (not a knock, just think if youre working in support services you should have fluency in the language youre servicing) and only offering warranty repairs is an inadequate compensation for the trouble it requires when the product is brand new.

Played games like CSGO, PUBG, Fortnite and the laptop would heat GPU up to 86 degrees and CPU up to92 degrees while operating at 80% and 97% respectively. Gets uncomfortably hot at WASD keys. So, if you buy this laptop you definitely want to buy extra cooling pad. That is all the negatives I could find out about this laptop. Love my purchase. Will update later on if find something worth noting.
