Greater than one weekWe purchased separately a echo show to communicate with our children. So, since we bounced back into the Amazon Alexa universe, we decided to plunge into all the device options. Previously we used smart home light controls with Lightify. These required the use of an injector hub (my words) to send the control signal over the internet to their server and back again. And the individual bulbs were controlled with signals over the house wiring, at least that was our vague understanding of the way it worked. These seemed to always break, lose the signal, or just not work right especially after a power grid brown out. Fast forward to todays technology which uses Wi-Fi directly to the device, again the way we understand it with limited technology smarts. WOW, gotta say, it works so much better. Instant on, instant off, no lag, no configuration reset after a power grid failure. SO, its our non tech savvy opinion that these work great. Seems a little difficult to setup with some of the other brands we purchased. But the Amazon brand setup was much simpler. If your going to do a smart home, go with this generation (gen 4) and buy enough to make the experience from room to room convenient. Otherwise why bother if the technology makes life more complicated...these make bedtime and wakeup much easier. Our advise, keep the device names simple, one word. Do your own custom name and group the devices together into rooms like living, master, for living room and master bedroom as an example. Above all enjoy the convenience, no more wall switch routines especially in the dark with Grandkids toys on the floor...ouch!

> 3 dayWith my old wifi, this set up was done in minutes. It worked so well, I bought a second one for another device. However, by this point, I had upgraded to an Eero Pro 6. Apparently, the Eero Pro 6 puts out 2.4 & 5 ghz signals simultaneously, so there shouldnt be an issue. I have other 2.4ghz products and I dont remember having this much issue connecting those items. However, this plug wouldnt connect no matter what I did. I finally went on the Eero website to see if I can get get a clue by reading the help section. Sure enough, one of the reps recommended a low tech solution, and it worked perfectly for me, I hope itll help you too. Connecting 2.4ghz Products: If a device manufacturer requires the 2.4GHz frequency, the most straightforward (although admittedly low-tech) is simply to power down any extra eeros and physically move further away from the primary unit – this will help your phone connect on 2.4GHz so that you can proceed with iDevice setup.

> 3 dayNormally, I can tell in a short period of time if I’m going to like a thing or not. These were the first smart outlets I purchased to test new technology. They were average to connect, not hard nor easy. Unfortunately, I’ve already lost one to electronic mortality. I set these to turn on and off at sunrise and sunset as the need requires. Since purchase two years ago, that means it has roughly been cycled 365x4 times or 1460 times. I bought a pack of 4 and one is dead. That’s a 25% failure rate. Otherwise, they operate fine. Because of the mortality, I’m rating them a 2. Follow-on from review two months ago. Another one bites the dust. Now only two of this brand out of the original four are left. Don’t waste your money. Buy something with more longevity.

> 3 dayThe product definitely works just not what I expected. I used this for my ac so I could cool down my room without having to go upstairs before bed. I didnt know that when you shut down the ac it goes back to a preset temp. So keep that in mind if youre using it for a similar reason. Although the product definitely works I dont love that you have to download an app for it. Not sure what I was expecting but Im definitely not disappointed. For some reason I thought it just would connect to my alexa app since it mentioned alexa integration. Also possible that I havent figured it out yet...

> 3 dayPro: compact, seem to be well built, integrate nicely with Alexa. I recommend setting them up all at once, even eif youre not going to use them all at once. Then when youre ready, plug one of the already programmed plugs in, and let Alexa know what you want to do with it. Con: the instructions were a little vague. Once I figured them out, all work well.

> 3 dayIt works well and reliably. Admittedly, its a matter of taste, but hearing this switch click whenever a lamp, say, is turned on or off is a bit off putting to me. Otherwise, it works great and the app is really easy to use (most of the time I use Alexa, though).

> 3 dayThe initial installation was a bit confusing with smart life app because it always redirect me to the browser to install the app when i already have it installed in my phone in the first place. And the fact that the scanning of the bar code is not being accepted and redirects me to to install the app. But after a couple of trial and error, i was able to install it successfully and was able to add others in the household who will use it. Be aware that after adding personin your household, and before they use it, you will encounter the switch in the app to be turned on when in fact it is off. After turning the switch off and on, this will reflect the app status now.

> 3 dayAfter opening it I plugged it in where I wanted it (upstairs and quite a ways from my router) and the app found it right away. I tried twice to connect to it up there and failed. Then I thought it’s like most things, the closer to the router the easier to connect. Plugged it in 3 feet from my router and connected in 15 seconds. Changed the name in the app to describe what it controls and automatically was in the Alexa app. I did have to set up 2 routines so it would turn on and off the light I wanted at the time I wanted but that only took a couple of minutes. I guess what helped me is I already had the Smart Life app installed and had used it before with some candelabra bulbs I purchased a while back. I’ve had it for a couple of days now and so far no problem. For 10 bucks works as well as my true Amazon Plugs that I have bought in the past. I would and probably will buy again.
