I bought this unit to cool my bedroom so that I could turn off my central heat and air. It made no sense to cool the entire house if I could just stay in one room and cool that. I was hoping that this unit would be a money saver as my money doesn’t go as far as it used to. Although I found it to blow cool air consistently, it did not cool the entire room. The instructions to for best results to use ice cubes but I don’t have an icemaker, so I just used water. The results were mediocre and I returned it.

If youre deciding to buy or not like I was, here are few points. This is not an A/C. Dont expect it to cool of room or make ski slope snow. It is personal desk fan. Once you accept that, you can decide if you want it. I like it and Im not disappointed. First let say that evaporative cooling is a myth. It does exist in theory, but in real life is totally inefficient. What you get is a mini humidifier and desk fan with the added benefit of vapor mist. The vapor mist is the part to experiment with. Freezing the filter did not show any help. Keeping it wet is just fine. The reason is that in hot room ice melts right before your eyes. That also applies to water in the reservoir. Standing water warms up rather quick in a hot room and defeats the cooling idea. So the solution that seem to help is filling the reservoir with just enough water to keep it from running dry. Maybe quarter of the tank or less, and keep adding ice instead of water. Seating in front of fan in hot weather feels good, and keeping the water cold makes cooler breeze. You can also put little bottle cap with scent inside the unit and have room freshener. My favorite is peppermint oil. I run it at low since the fan is noisy on high setting and I want just a breeze, not a tornado. When it becomes really hot I turn on A/C, but for spring weather that fluctuates from hot to cold this thing is just fine.

Never had a problem yet with the mechanics of the cooler and really does cool the area pretty good. It does condensate or leak a little bit but that could be because you are suppose to freeze the cartridge before use and when you put it in a unconditioned space, like I did (garage), it will inevitably leak. Other then that it works great!

Exactly that. Other small evaporative coolers including the previous generation have not had a water puddling issue but this one does. You essentially need to put it on a tray and keep it way from sensitive furniture, art, flooring etc. Poor engineering in my book.

This was fairly easy to use but it did not live up to the hype. It stated that it would cool a room for hours...not! It advertised water as the cooling component, but you have to add ice. I get better cooling from a fan.

So 2.0 version is quieter, but this is only due to the fact that the fan on high is no longer as strong. High is now equivalent to LOW on the version prior. Also, there STILL is no option to turn the lights OFF! There is a night light that still shines in my eyes at night on my nightstand, keeping me awake. The other lights are even brighter than the previous version. We dont need to pay an extra $20 for a fan that barely blows and fancy lights that blind ya. Also, the air filter felt is less than half the other versions. I have allergies, and when though this is just a fancy fan, I NEED the air filter. Stick to the ORIGINAL version and price!

You have to be right next to it to get any benefit of cool air.

Everything came as pictured. Followed the directions BUT if the room is hot it doesnt really cool it down but for a few minutes. Not worth what we paid for it.

I recently purchased this mini air conditioner, and I must say, its a game-changer for beating the heat. Its compact size makes it perfect for small spaces like offices or bedrooms. The cooling power is impressive, providing a refreshing breeze to combat hot summer days. The adjustable settings allow me to customize the airflow to my preference. Its easy to use, and the noise level is minimal, ensuring a peaceful environment. The only reason I deducted a star is because the cooling effect is more suitable for personal use rather than cooling an entire room. Overall, its a reliable and convenient mini air conditioner that delivers relief from the heat.
