I am an active professional engineer both live and in the studio. I’ve used countless makes and models of so called “studio monitoring headphones”, Beyer, Sennheiser, Sony, Shure, etc. The ATH-M40x is the hands down winner at its price point and well above it. Supremely flat and uncolored response. Natural and accurate imaging and depth of field. Comfortable for hours. Decent isolation. You can’t beat these things for $100.

These headphones are a big disappointment! After burning them in I cannot tell the difference between them and a cheat pair of earbuds. Lack of volume is a Huge issue. For a loud or high volume headset go elsewhere.

These are hands down the best headphones for the price on the market! Ive changed from Beats UrBeats, which I thought at the time had great sound quality. However, the ATHM40xs have superior quality without a doubt! I am glad I made the decision to switch from the marketing genius Beats to the audio genius ATH! Best investment in music I could have done! Highly Recommended!!!

Le son de ce casque est très impressionnant. Je porte des lunettes et malgré cela, il est très confortable. Cest dailleurs le seul casque qui sadapte complètement à mon confort. Néanmoins, les premiers jours dutilisation, il est un peu serré, car il agrippe un peu la tête. Par contre, cela se règle facilement, en étirant le bandeau très doucement. Le matériel est de bonne qualité.

They are great!! Maybe beyond that!

Started using this just last month. It sits on my desk when not in use. Just an hour ago, I was listening to music until I noticed that the left side of the headphones had a rattling noise when the bass freq was low. I confirmed it by doing some bass tests with tools on the internet. Ive never dropped it or put it in any sort of pressure. I tried changing cables, tested on a different computer, swapped the pads, cleaned the pads, and checked for any hair, dirt, or any other particle that may be causing it.

If youre a beginner and planning to go for a cheap but professional kind of equipment then you can go for this but if you are a pro in it then you should go for M50x

Ear cups are a bit tight. Wonderful sound quality, however.
