I hit these with all kinds of music most notably allot of hard rock and extreme metal, and these more than deliver. I didnt hear any of the issues allot of the youtube reviewers have with them.

I needed new headphones because my previous pair (Monster DNA) broke for the 2nd time. I realized that I should look for different headphones but there were so many options, I didnt know where to start. Ive heard a lot of good things about Audio-Technica so I knew these headphones would be one of my options. I finally came down to Audio-Technica ATH-M40x vs. Sony MDR7506 vs. Sennheiser HD280 Pro.

What a great pair of headphones for the price! You can feel the bass in your chest, its amazing.Comes with great accessories & love the 360 swivel on the ear piece. My son says they put beats to shame!

Excellent headphones.

Flimsy build, absolute joke for the price. Had these once, the swivel broke. Got a replacement from Amazon with minimal fuss(thank you for this). Same swivel, same failure point, this time after a shorter period of time. For context, these headphones were used with my desktop computer, and travelled to an office maybe 6 times across both sets. Am therefore concluding this is an issue with the build rather than with one particular pair. Not worth it.

Great sound quality, but the cans just flop around rather than holding their position. And because the cans are multi-directional, each time I put them on it was like doing a Rubics cube to get them back to the position I needed. Why cant they make this with stiff joints so the cans hold position instead of flopping around?

Dont think about it twice, buy these headphones. I love them

I was very impressed with these headphones. For only $100 or less you are getting some of the best closed back, low leakage headphones you can get for your money. These were my first closed back reference cans. I have an open pair as well as these. These have a nice neutral sound which is really good. You get to hear music as the studio and artist wanted you to hear it. Compared to beats by dre with their crap bass boost, the m40xs blow them out of the water with a nice clean sound with little to no distortion of the music.
