I have purchased a new car, 2017 Hyundai Sonata which has a very nice integrated 6 or 7 in dash navigation / backup camera screen. I felt I wanted to integrate into this head unit, instead of my typical remove and replace scenario. I am so glad I found Audio Control. I have read mini-truckin magazine in the past, as well as other car audio mags, and I recall all the accolades given to this company and their products. The component LC7i works as advertised, and provides professional, high voltage inter-connection into my system. I didnt have factory amplifier, so I feed a JL Audio 750/5 (300 watt sub / 75 watt per corner RMS). This setup is wonderful, and the adjustment for each channel, and a clipping indicator on the unit is a great selling point. IF you feel you want amplification within an Audio Control unit, they have one as well. What this unit is great for is integrating a factory dash unit and all its capabilities, and boosting pre-amp signals to an amp for louder, cleaner music both interiors as well as a sub, so from 2 channel factory outputs to 3 channels output to amps. My JL amplifier has 5 channels, but this LC7i could drive both a sub amp, and a interior mid-range amp at the same time. I recommend this highly for anyone seeking a mid-powered (not ground shaking bass or window shattering highs) system that will play clean and fairly loud).

Had in my 5th gen camaro for a couple years and no problems at all. My sub started sounding weak, so I decided to repeak my system with a voltmeter and reset gains etc. I turned the bass level knob for the LC7i down, and my sub amp instantly went to protection mode and never came out. I removed it and bench tested it and it’s smoked. Purchased a new amp, installed it and before connecting the sub I checked to make sure there was no bass boost and the second the bass knob moved- smoked a brand new expensive amp. Dayton DSP will replace the LC7i and it will hit the trash. I still have an ESP2 from AudioControl that still works- and it’s almost 20 years old!

I had fun working with the lc7i. I used to have cheap line out converters running to my amps (front door speakers, dash tweeters, and subwoofer). The difference is huge. There is a clearer, more vibrant sound stage than I had before. Since the lc7i is active (needs 12v power supply), you get a cleaner, more powerful signal than with a cheaper line out converter. I ended up having to turn the gain to minimum on my amps because of the great signal this puts out. No clipping or noise in my case. The bass boost actually works and subwoofer sounds bigger than it used to, without overloading. I trunk mounted mine with all my other audio stuff. Summed the signals for a cleaner output. There are better more expensive options with equalizer options. For the price this product is awesome.

Still hear the whining of the power line. I have the power line coming across the other side of the car but it still interfere with the unit. If you turn down the gains u dont hear it as much but that defeats the purpose to me.

This is by far the best the number 1 thing you need of you are trying to install aftermarket amp and speakers into a new car without having to take the factory radio out of it. New cars and trucks don’t come with RCA’s to hookup an amp and most higher end cars and trucks have the signal already crossed over so that it works well with the factory speakers they put in. Without this, there’s no way o put the signal together after it’s been crossed over. Extremely happy with this purchase. Thank you again

Bought this to replace one that I had installed a few months. On the original I had an issue where sound would cut out if I had both channels of one output plugged into amp. I wrote to customer service to see if that was a defect or possibly an issue I caused, so I could decide to repair or trash it, but I ordered another to get my system back ASAP. I never got a response from audio control, and it seems like my new one is acting up now, although I have not diag’d To verify if it is the same issue. I’ll do that over the weekend and update my review if I find the LC to be at fault. If it is, I will be changing brands, as I feel I should get years of trouble free use out of this. If it’s not, I’ll still likely explore other options when I need another converter, based solely on the lack of communication. I don’t need an immediate answer to an email enquiry, but an answer within a week is reasonable to expect I think. That said, when it works, it work great. The features are nice, and it’s easy to dial the settings in properly. But I would expect high quality hardware for the premium price I’m paying for this, and so far I’m not certain that’s what you get with audio control. My 2 star overall review is based on the fact that it failed in under a year and there is no communication if there is an issue.

The lc7i was a very good peace of equipment till i hooked up the subwoofer to it on a factory radio. The bass goes up and down by its self. Even wit the control down. I wud buy the lc6i instead. Get a separate bass booster for the lows next time.
