19-11-2024A lot of Ferro rod material for a good price. Scrape off the protective paint over the area you are scraping for sparks, and push hard with the back of a knife against the rod, and a shower of sparks will be produced.

> 3 dayIt worked great. I can now say, I have started a fire with a ferro rod.

Greater than one weekThrows a lot of nice hot sparks even when its wet...but those wont light a fire if you dont prepare kindling properly... especially if the burnables around you are wet Can these rods start a fire? You bet. But if you dont study fire preparation and PRACTICE IT these will just be a waste of money and you would have been better served with a Bic lighter. If you buy these and havent started a fire with one before....train with them and they will serve you well.

> 3 dayI love these ferrocerium rods. For me the larger rods are preferable. The price of these is fair and definitely worth it. These are just perfect with a pre-drilled hole for a lanyard, which is definitely preferable to drilling your own!

> 3 dayI put a handle made out of pine fat wood on them, which provides for the ability to have the makings of a fire readily available. They do weigh more than smaller rods, but you don’t need the extra materials.

> 3 dayDont get me wrong. I love the smaller fire rods and they are perfect for EDC or to tuck into small places. But, if you wanna really throw some sparks go for this big boy and his big brother - the 6 Bayite. Only thing thats a minus for me is the weight. Aint no way you wont know its in your pocket. I appreciate the hole at one end. I got me several feet of paracord, doubled it over several times, fed the cord through the hole, slid on an ex-large striker, put the cord through a loop in my backpack and tied it off. Then I tucked everything in a side pocket of the backpack and I dont notice the weight. If you want a ferro rod that gets down to business, throws big sparks and wont leave you wishin you had a fire - Bayite Ferro Rods are worth your time to consider and then purchase.

Greater than one weekThese work great. Some give more sparks and heat than others. This gives a lot of heat and spark. Works well. I carry it in my work truck in case I need a fire and I’m my hunting pack. Showed the Boy Scouts how to use one. They thought I was some sort of out door expert.
