They just work. Ive ordered 6 of these, all throw a great spark and will last a very long time. The lanyard hole fits a piece of 550 paracord perfectly.

I have found that the sparks were pretty good but not the best, but these will last for a very very long time so Im happy.

Product as described. Fast shipping. 5” in the hand is WAY bigger than it looks on a ruler. 4” is more than sufficient in length for real world usage. The 1/2 inch diameter is great.

throws big sparks much better than the one that came with my knife- no holes so duct tape to the knife case- very pleased small torn pieces of toilet paper have fire dry condition in no time awesome

I was a scout master an teach field operations to officer candidates so Ive carried a variety of survival tools and fire starting aids my whole life. These are the biggest ferro rods Ive ever seen. Theyre so big that they might be too big, gotta figure out a way to carry them as they wont fit in my sheath. I docked them a point in thickness really because of the weight. Picture shows them in comparison with a Benchmade Griptillian for scale. Come wrapped in styro-cushion in a sturdy box, 2 to the box. That said, theyre flamethrowers, easily start a fire with big HOT sparks. You will need a sharp cornered knife back or youll have to use the blade but they throw huge, hot, sparks. Predrilled for a lanyard, slightly smaller than 550 cord but you can work it through. Would definitely buy them again though they come two to a box so I sort of doubt Ill ever need new ones - it took me more than 10 years to wear out my last one...

These ferro rods throw a nice shower of sparks, and the lanyard hole is a nice feature when using as well as carry.

1/2"× 5"" Pack of 2

  • Can be used for the kitchen as well as survival.
  • Not only for emergency bug-out bags, but also for gifts.

Size Comparison

  • Large size( 1/2"" thick) means plenty for your hands to hang onto. If you have large hands, we recommend the large size.
  • The 3/8"" × 4"" is big enough for easier strikes and small enough to carry.

How to use

  1. Scrape away the coating to expose shiny metal before first use.
  2. Hold the ferro rod close to the tinder at about a 45-degree angle. Place the scraper near the top of the rod.
  3. Pull the rod back (away from the tinder) with a slow and steady motion.
