> 3 dayThese ferro rods throw a nice shower of sparks, and the lanyard hole is a nice feature when using as well as carry.

> 3 daySparks very easily. Burns very hot. You don’t have to scrape off pieces of the ferro rod, just spark with steel. Packs nicely in a backpack. Takes up very little space.

06-06-2025Both rods I received did not work but maybe one strike out of 20! Im fairly experienced with ferro rods and these things are terrible. Maybe I received two duds as another reviewer mentioned. I was using a dedicated striker also that has a great striking edge and throws showers of sparks on other ferro rods.

> 3 dayNice shower of sparks that stay hot for a long while to catch your tinder. Big thick size means plenty for my hands to hang onto. Will mount into a .50 shell for a handle, and enjoy using for a long time to come.

Greater than one weekUpon arrival I put this into an antler handle and started testing it for extreme weather fire starting. This item perform 10 times better than the 1/4 sheath mounted units I had been using. It is a bit large with the handle but when you absolutely need a fire in bad weather this is the tool you want to have in your pack.

> 3 dayWorks just fine. You dont need to drop a ton of money on a fancy ferrocerium rod to get one that works; these do just fine. If youre not getting great sparks, press harder into the rod when scraping. If there is some moisture, you can carefully, slowly scrape a little pile of ferrocerium into your tinder bundle and then spark to ignite that. I will say, these are a pretty hard compound, so it can be a bit rough on the spine of a knife (if the spine isnt as hardened as the edge). Thats the case with my Bark River, so I use a scraper with it. Works great.

> 3 daycheap price, but quality rod. throws large sparks with anything including all strikers and knives. good size. fits in a pen holder. comes with a slight protective coat that works for traveling, but comes off easily on the first strikes
