These things put off some sparks.

These are great throw nice sparks and cheaper the most of the other brands that sell this size rod

This works best with the bayite striker, and when the two are paired together, holy cow! We attached the striker to the rod with about 4 feet of paracord tied in a snake knot (orange, for visibility if dropped), and my three kids each used it to ignite a small amount of tinder. This thing sets off more sparks than Cupid on Valentines Day, and is a very sturdy stick. Grip is good, and after many strikes, I cant even feel a depression in the rod itself. Ive tried mag bars, Swedish Light my fires (which work better with the bayite striker), and others, but this is tops.

These are nice cause they are thicker and a bit easier to hold but with that comes some weight. I gladly accept it as I know it will work. There is a coating on them so you need to take that off. I just put it in my cordless drill; spun them and took a mill file to the rod. It did throw small sparks doing that. Would buy more. AMS

The best. These shower the sparks, you just have to give it some time and break them in, then they will reward you with a fantastic fire starting option.

Just got these today together with the strikers and messed around with them in the living room. Holy cow, do they throw a spark! One went straight into the shipping box and burned a hole in the plastic air cushions. Impressive. Note to self: dont throw sparks in the living room unless you WANT burn marks on wood floor. I had both thumbs fused after a tail gater rear ended me which has left me with limited function and strength. Holding tiny keychain sized strikers and rods and actually getting a spark is now impossible, so these larger sized rods and strikers are a Godsend. Ill be having (outside) fun with these things!
