We rarely use the projector, only taking it out for special occasions, and now half the screen is showing vertical lines, only 80 hours of lamp life used, but outside of 3 year warranty period. Surprised by the positive reviews, would not recommend.

as a projector enthusiast (over 17 years) I can say that this is the the best projector I have ever own in my life. I use it in my home cinema room and its just breathtaking. here is my take on it. used for movies and gaming. (PC and PS5) Pros: sharp, low input lag, bright. Pros and cons of Ht3550. Pros: Sharp as a razor blade. Contrast ratio. Amazing image depth. The colors are 100 % accurate out of the box. The quiet hum of 4k chip, you cant really hear it. No light border around the image. Dynamic iris (a good thing to have but not a deal-breaker) Lens ceiling light shield. Breath-taking hdr capability. (still cant find my jaw) Cons: some say it has a high input lag but it never bothered me in games. my tests showed about 50/55MS without the dynamic iris and about 77 with dynamic iris turned on. (i game without the dynamic iris) but I dont feel it in any game I play on Ps5. 2000 lumens, works best in dark rooms. Image syncs two sides of the screen for a minute. (only at startup). purple Fringing/ chromatic aberration. its only visible up close and as soon as you gain some distance from the projector screen it goes completely away. it is known with this model and it should not bother anyone owning this projector. although rated 2000 lumens I would say its about 2500. I have another 2200 projector and HD3550 blows it out of the water. I am not playing FPS games so I have never seen input lag, dont let this issue stir you away from this amazing projector. 4k gaming on my ps5 is just stunning and frankly, sometimes unbelievable how amazing it looks. The cons are very negligible vs the pros. I dont know how Benq managed to do this in this price range but its just nothing short of amazing.

The unit came wrapped in a protective plastic that when we took it off left a big sticky mess all over the unit that does not come off.

Im very pleased. I watched a few video reviews before purchasing this projector and I like it even better than the reviewers did. To my eyes the lamp brightness is more than adequate for a dark room even when using the wide color gamut. If youre a gamer, the input lag is only going to be a problem if youre playing competitive multiplayer or if you play a lot of twitchy reflex games where every millisecond counts. I was playing GTA5 (by myself) last night and I didnt notice the lag while playing. 4k hdr movies with wide color gamut turned on are beautiful, I watched The Revenant recently and all those outdoor scenes really popped.

I’ve had this projector for about a year and I absolutely love it!! The picture is great but don’t cheap out on a projector screen then no matter how good of a projector you have the picture won’t be perfect. It’s a little noisy but when I’m watching a movie I never hear it. I recommend dynamic iris on high, color enhancer & pixel enhancer at a 2 or 3

The picture quality is outstanding, not just for the money but for any projector. In a dedicated room with a proper screen and light control it will rival anything you could see at your local digital theater. The colors are unbelievably vivid and the image is very sharp. There are several preconfigured modes, two of which are calibrated at the factory to meet 100% of Rec 709 and 96% of DCI P3. The only issue I had was that the HDR mode wasn’t calibrated at all and all the faces looked like something out Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Inspecting the color manager I found all the settings set to 200. I matched the color manager settings to the calibrated D. Cinema mode and it now has a more color accurate HDR image than my calibrated P Series Vizio LED TV. The bright HDR highlights of the projector can’t match the TV but in a light controlled theater room it looks amazing. Interstellar on UHD BD looks like looking through a window. The Dynamic Iris really brings out the details in dark HDR programs like Ozark in a way that I would say is almost equal to the local dimming of my LED TV. Now your experience will very greatly on your own setup. I have a dedicated room with .5 gain grey walls and ceiling and a 100” 1.0 gain grey screen. I sit about 9’ from the screen. I run it in Eco in all modes except HDR where it needs Normal to give full effect, and Smart Eco in Vivid which is bright enough for sports with the room lights at 20% This was a direct replacement for the HT2050 and it fit my setup without modification.

Tips: Download the Firmware update. It will fix some of the color issues, mostly with HDR not looking right. Picture needed slight adjustment but was really close. If the HDR picture still doesnt look right after the Firmware update (too red or funny colors) turn off the HDR for that show you are watching. HDR did not work well for non-supported HDR programs, but did look good for programs with HDR. Maybe the Auto doesnt work perfect. Definitely worth the money. 150 screen that looks 4K amazing

Projector works great, but the Android TV is nothing but trouble. No Netflix, Hulu lags, it has trouble connecting, and a pain to set up. Youre better off getting a Chromecast. Plus its cheaper than the $100 upgrade. Android TV is a BenQ HDMI dongle with Chromecast on it. It plugs in to the inside (a hidden third HDMI port) and is powered on when the projector powers on. If you were to buy the new Chromecast it would work just the same except youd have to use an outside HDMI port. Customer service on the BenQ website is slow and they offer no solutions. They went right to replacing under warranty which takes weeks unless they put a hold on you card for quick shipment. The guy didnt suggest updating the firmware or projector which was pretty easy, but could also be hard for some.

Brilliant Black Levels, Very short throw,Dynamic Iris is a very important add on. Lacking on Brightness. Does not support Dolby Digital/DTS Audio 5.1 on Digital Toshlink out. Ideal for small spaces but must have a for very Dark Room to enjoy. Overall its a Good Home Cinema projector.
