> 3 daylots of projectors lies about contrast ratio. so far Ive heard the only affordable projector that come close to being in the thousands contrast ratio (yet less than the 2500 it claimed) is the benq ht2050a. so it sad to say this wasnt enough. but the movie experience was there, but I just couldnt justify spending this much on something that made me wonder what if. and brightness was going to get dimmer over time, and being rated at 2200 ansi lumens wouldve made it a scary, and unpleasant experience, each day gone by, before it died out.

Greater than one weekWe have been using at-home projection TV for over 25 years, but we had never tried a BenQ. I thought of it as a step up, it cost twice as much as our next most spendy projector. I ordered it ahead instead of another bulb for our Epson, setup was easy and then stuff began to fail. We use a fancy Onkyo amplifier sound system which extracts the most from signals and sources. We enjoy hearing birds flock up in the ceiling / sky. But the Benq strips sound down. How do I know. Well when the BenQ bulb failed so early that I had not stocked a replacement, thinking that was a couple years in the future, I had closeted the old Epson projector and we have not yet agreed on another use, guests or grandkids, so I got it out and replaced the BenQ with the old one and wow it was brighter and the good sound came back. So, now we have new decisions to make, one is to stop believing Amazon ratings. Another, not to count bulb hours until they are achieved. Finally, a three year warranty is not worth anything if the phone number doesnt work.

> 3 dayWeve had this projector for about 4 months now and have to say - its fantastic. Im sure you could spend more money and get a better picture, more features, etc, but for the price, I think this is the best you can get. We have a room that is a light beige color and windows on the back wall - if we wanted to watch this during the day without shades on the windows, the image would be a little dim. That said, any other time, the image is incredibly sharp and the HDR makes everything look great. Weve got it at about 135 and it looks amazing - highly recommended!

> 3 dayWhat I did like it did arrive on time. what I didnt like is that the product arrived with the wrong power cord. the cord was very nasty and dirty. what I didnt like was that the projector itself had loose parts in the inside lot of rattling going on in the inside when I picked the projector up wow totally dissatisfied. I did not power the unit up because I was afraid that the cord might short it out due to the damage Incorrect Power cord.

> 3 dayfirst off, yes this is my first projector. Before buying this product i did did quite a bit of research. For the money ($1400) this was to have been one of the good ones, or better ones. So when i finally got the product delivered, I was excited. I did did a test run on it and placed up high and checked out the video. I was using a 4K firestick. Keep in mind that I do have sufficient bandwidth to run 4K. So my initial thought was that i needed to do some major tweaks. So again did my research and modified also to the settings. Also on a side i do have to say I am not a fan of the menus on this. Every time you make a change, it goes out of the menu and then you have to go back in.. ridiculous... anyway.. So after completing the install, i rechecked everything again. Same thing and not clear for a 4K projector at all. So then i looked at the version and found that there was a newer version. So i updated the projector. Put the 4K Firestick on some 4K content (again) and still not looking clear. it shows only as 2400 and not the 3840 for 4k. I have seen videos of people using the firestick and getting great picture. But not on his one that i have, at least for me. So again.. I thought it was the Firestick. So I ended using one of the other ones i have and still the same quality. i have to say I am extremely disappointed and at this point would NOT recommend this product for the money that I spent.

> 3 dayFirst of all I would like to say to all those who are new to projectors to do your research before one. This is my 5th one and I learn something new that I didnt know with the prior one. I started with a 720p ViewSonic and despite its lack of technical and features it actually had the most lumens . This Ben q rivals my ViewSonic with brightness and thats a welcome addition. Placement of your projector is super important as well and I learned that the hard way. The farther away you place your projector from your screen the less brighter the image. This Ben q is replacing my Epson 8345 that has 1600 lumens. Its only recommended for dark rooms with very little light coming in but the Ben q with double the lumens can be used with the lights on and even a curtainless window during the day! Im not a technical guy when it comes to number and side by side comparisons detecting the smallest flaw in an image . I look at out of the box picture quality and the 3550 in my view delivers!

> 3 dayFor background I have owned the benq w1070 for 5 years or so. Which has performed wonderfully. I have had my eye on the 3550 for a little while. Having pre ordered the xbox series x I figured it was time to upgrade my dedicated theater room to take advantage of 4k standard next gen games. I already own an xbox one x and 10 or so 4k uhd physical movies. Now that I have mounted it properly to the ceiling to get the image up to size for my 120 inch screen I can give an opinion on its performance. The clarity is stunning. The picture attached to this post was taken from my couch with my phone. It doesnt truly convey the experience, but I think its a good example. Film grain is obvious, so I found that the best quality in terms of clarity was from digital films on uhd discs. Avengers Endgame looked amazing to the point that I think the image is superior to a movie theater. The factory settings on the projector are close to perfect. The brightness is excellent in my dedicated dark basement theater room on a 120 inch retractable screen. Some key facts to keep in mind. This model uses pixel shifting to create a true 4k image from a native 1080 dlp chip. Whatever technological trickery they developed here works, end of story. My guess is upgrading to a native 4k projector would could/would be an improvement, but honestly I cant see a difference and that upgrade is thousands of additional dollars. I have a nice Sony 4k tv in my living room and I personally feel you cant fully appreciate the benefits of 4k unless the screen is huge, now that I have tested that theory I am convinced. Also, a key consideration for me was 3d. Like my previous w1070, this model supports 3d, so I cant still watch my large library of 3d blu rays. If you have never seen 3d with active glasses on a dlp projector its an incredible experience that I highly recommend. One last note, there is apparently some lag on most of the 4k projectors for gaming. I am a grown up who still plays games, not a competitive gamer. I tried out several games in 4k on my xbox. No lag issues I was able to identify. I also had to order a new ceiling mount as the hole pattern for the 3550 was totally different from my previous projector, but that was expected. To summarize, for the money this projector punches way above its weight class. If you have the space to dedicate to a home theater this is a worthy investment. Its a no brainer upgrade over the benq w1070, which for me was the best value of any audio visual equipment I have ever purchased. I am super excited to get my next gen game system plugged into this bad boy.

> 3 dayWell guys what can I say about this projector? My previous projector was a viewsonic 720p native which I purchased from a co-worker, who had upgraded his screen and projector (he got another viewsonic and gave me his gently used screen and projector). I had been waiting over a year to upgrade. I went from wanting to get the TK800 when it first hit, to the LGs fancy portable one, to the xiaomi mi to you name it...I have a small apartment (its mounted a little over 8.2 away), so the throw was important to me, and I had been tired of not making use of the projector screens size (a homegear 110). Im a novice when it comes to all the jargon and terminology, however, I do know what looks good. Im a computer gamer and several yrs ago added xbox and ps4 to my list of addictions. Ill say that this projector has blown me away. An amazing image, no light spills on to the ceiling or anywhere that its not meant to be...fan noise is reasonable as well. Because Ive yet to buy a sound system, Ive been using projector speakers, and honestly Ive been impressed. Im definitely not a fanboy, but Ive certainly been won over. Dont take my word for it, look at my pics and decide for yourself. If youre on the fence, hop off and buy the darn thing. You wont get a single regret from me.
