I wish these were cheaper. My biorb is constantly getting algae. I hate that these cost ten bucks a pop. I wish someone would make the foam rings so I could replace them.

The envelopes for the water conditioner were dryed out and useless (purchased twice), but I didnt bother to return since I have since dumped my biOrb tank. Way too much extra cleaning required. Algae everywhere.

As someone else stated, the filter packs are a waste of money. If you only have fish in the tank, and not live plants, you need only purchase a jug of charcoal, and replace the filter media yourself (after rinsing, of course). Further, if you have live plants in your biorb, you will need to replace the charcoal with a filter media such as SeaChems purigen. At $18ish / 100ml, this is still far more economical than using the OEM filter packs, and youll be using a filter media that will not rob the water of the nutrients the plants require to thrive. As far as the sponge part of the filter, just rinse it out in old tank water. Simple, economical, and gives you a sense of accomplishment. BTW- that overpriced bulb is a simple JC G4 bi-pin base, halogen 5w bulb. No need to pay the premium for the reef one packaging. For that matter, the jackhammer airpump can be replaced with a cheepo $7 model from wherever as well when it quits. Hope this helps others, Ive learned along the way that owning a biorb needs not be an expensive proposition!

I have never had a problem with the biological booster, but Ive used the water conditioner a few times and it has always killed everything in my tank. The water optimizer is not sold in this kit, but it also has always killed my fish. So now the only thing I ever add is the biological booster.

Im not sure how to rate a product that has no marketplace competition. This is a service kit for a biOrb aquarium. If you have biOrb you cant do without it; if you dont you have no use for it(at least that I am aware). It works as prescribed and well it should.

After neglecting my aquarium with inconsistent maintenance and occasional over feeding, I put this on subscription to remind me when it is time to take care of my finned friends. After just two months, my aquarium is about 1/3 as nasty as when I started. (Seriously, I suddenly realized that my fish would be perfectly justified if they died on me, though they didn’t. They deserve so much better!) Once I had all the tools in place, it takes me less than 10 minutes to get the replacement water ready the day before, +3 minutes to change the filter and another 15 to “vacuum” and change the water. I’m going to be a much better keeper from now on.

All my fish died when I poured the water conditioner in... It appeared like a weird chemical burn almost instantly. I emailed the company, twice and never got a response.

Works very well for my 8 gallon biorb the reason I gave it a 2 was it came in a plastic envelope and my filter holder came cracked.. this was my 1st purchase for this filter very unhappy the way they shipped it should come in a box..
