> 24 hourI wont go into every minutiae, as many have already done so. This is mostly about print quality (which, oddly enough, is rarely mentioned). The quality of the print, especially compared to the likes of Xerox Phaser or HP, etc., is just plain terrible. If anything, its certainly not the 1200x1200 DPI they claim it to be. Its not even 600x600 in my opinion. Id place it more at about 300x600. This deception in marketing alone is what earned it a two star rating from me (sorry, but print quality is a deal breaker for me). Print speed is indeed fast, even from a deep sleep. If youre able to get it at a lower price (it was just down to $115) and just need a cheap and fast machine for invoicing and student use, it might suit your needs. Ill try to upload some comparison photos. Pros: -Fast wake-up and printing -Small form factor -Relatively quiet -Plug and play -Auto duplex -Includes a full ink toner cartridge Cons: -Terrible print quality -No WiFi/Bluetooth

> 24 hourNeeded to replace an older model Brother B&W duplex printer and found this later-generation model for a smokin business price, way cheaper than anything comparable anywhere else. I dont need wireless (it connects to LAN by Ethernet) which may not meet an all-WiFi home office setup. Operation is flawless, and its a lot faster than the one it replaced. Old printer donated to AZ-STRUT for reclamation and recycling.

> 24 hourOnce you install BRAdmin you can manage a lot of printer settings over the network, including firmware updates.

> 24 hourExcellent network printer. I bought this for an accounting office (one of my Dallas clients) that does a lot of printing. I have found the Brother lasers to always be well made and reasonably priced. Its easy to set up and configure. Always buy a high volume toner when you get these, as the starter toner does not give a lot of mileage.

> 24 hourI purchased the HL-L5100DN laser printer in 2020 with high expectations since my 2 previous laser printers had each performed for 10+ years (earlier HP, and a Brother HL-5250DN). 5 Stars initially with great expectations 4 Stars when I realized it shipped with a starter toner cartridge, and I had to purchase a replacement which added $100+ to the expected cost. 3 Stars when I started experiencing problems printing envelopes and small page sizes. The text would rub off the envelope. The problem occurred with the Windows 7 driver and the Ubuntu (Linux) driver. 2 Stars when I had to replace the drum because of repeating periodic missing print areas on the page. Cleaning the drum did not resolve the issue. 1 Star when recently the paper creased when printing duplex which I do often. I tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions in the manual and online for the 3 problem. I had a chat session with Brother support and tried to find a solution to the 2 problems: envelop printing and duplex paper creasing. No new insight or solution. Printer is out of warranty. Take to a authorized service center. Likely repair cost maybe $155 fuser and $55 duplexer.

> 24 hourThe HLL5100DN is a nice printer at a very good price point. It has an LCD display and small control panel that makes it easier to configure and do certain things compared to cheaper ones that dont have that feature. The print quality is quite good very sharp and crisp and it prints pretty fast. This is a small office class printer even though for me it is mainly home and some business use. It has usb and Ethernet connectivity but not built in wireless. Thats fine for my purposes because I prefer to connect it directly to my wireless router. If you need the built in wireless capability then get the 5200, 6180 or the 6200 which will cost you about $100 - $200 dollars more.
