Greater than one weekThis printer was defective right out of the box. As soon as I plugged it in, a PLEASE WAIT notification started blinking on the LCD screen and a motor kept cycling on and off. The on/off button failed to work. I unplugged the printer, plugged it in again, and the PLEASE WAIT message started blinking along with the brief motor cycling sound. The printer wouldnt connect with my computer, either. I couldnt find anything about this PLEASE WAIT error in the troubleshooting guide, and when I waited online to chat with a tech at the Brother website, I got dumped from the queue after 15 minutes. There is no phone number to call. My last Brother printer was dependable and lasted for nine years. Apparently something has changed and quality control and customer service are no longer priorities.

05-06-2025Excellent output, very crisp, sharp text and good graphics. Takes a big electrical load when heating up and is a bit noisy, but quieter than the older HL-5470DW. There is a setting that makes it even quieter but slows it down a bit. The fuser started to go after almost 4 years on that similar older HL-5470DW and it cost more to replace the fuser and drum than a new printer, sure hope this one is longer lasting. Even set to automatic duplex (called 2-sided now) it doesnt pull the paper back through when printing a single one-sided page thus speeding the output, unlike the older model. Have had no problems with it quickly waking up from sleep mode.

> 3 dayThis printer has a brain of its own, Jury still out but I like the HL2270 far better. This one has issues, it refuses to print some internet things. and it leaves shadows on my document. Print quality is not the best.

Greater than one weekI was really upset in the beginning with Toner being sprayed all over the page, but only on the first page. And then the second Problem is that the Printer kept going Off-Line even though I have a direct ethernet connection. I have since solved this 2 problems: 1) I bought some cheap generic toner and it prints beautifully, and 2) IF you go online to Brother Support, they have a download tool which resolves the problem of not being able to find the network. The default is 300 dpi which I changed to 600 dpi. It is fast, prints acceptable well, and now at long last, I like it.

> 3 dayNeeded to replace an older model Brother B&W duplex printer and found this later-generation model for a smokin business price, way cheaper than anything comparable anywhere else. I dont need wireless (it connects to LAN by Ethernet) which may not meet an all-WiFi home office setup. Operation is flawless, and its a lot faster than the one it replaced. Old printer donated to AZ-STRUT for reclamation and recycling.

> 3 dayI was using a inkjet printer for my business which is great for color prints and I still use but then my online sales began taking off and I was printing shipping labels like crazy. The price of inkjet ink was killing me and the slow print times. After a month I purchased this printer on Amazon. WOW it prints crazy fast and over the last year I printed 10,000 envelopes, 500 package slip and paper invoices, and college papers for my teenager. My best guess is 15,000 prints and I havent changed a cartage yet and have had very few misprints. I would buy this again I am incredibly happy with this purchase.
