I was really upset in the beginning with Toner being sprayed all over the page, but only on the first page. And then the second Problem is that the Printer kept going Off-Line even though I have a direct ethernet connection. I have since solved this 2 problems: 1) I bought some cheap generic toner and it prints beautifully, and 2) IF you go online to Brother Support, they have a download tool which resolves the problem of not being able to find the network. The default is 300 dpi which I changed to 600 dpi. It is fast, prints acceptable well, and now at long last, I like it.

This is just the latest Brother laser printer Ive bought for my business. Generally they work ok but this one has exhibited printing problems since first use. I bought this so we can print clean labels to affix to various products, since our work horse Brother HL-L6200DW printer inevitably get gummed up from printing shipping labels but its not a big deal there. This HL-L5100DN has struggled with labels in every respect from first use: • labels in the multipurpose (MP) tray frequently mis-feed • labels are usually coated in a gray toner haze across the entire 8.5x11 sheets. Of course I am using the correct Brother printer driver and label settings. But no combination of settings and/or cleaning the drum fixes the issue. Transitioning to printing the same labels on my HL-L6200DW was giving clean output, until I replaced the drum in that unit and quality went down the toilet. Oh Brother.

I thought all printers were wi-fi. This is a heavy and pretty large printer, but it square and fit perfectly in my closet where my router was, so I was able to plug it in. I got it because my old printer did not support direct printing from tablets and phones. That part works really well for me. Duplex printing works great, too. Ive also printed shipping labels and envelops using the document tray. Its a really well thought out machine. I like Brother printers over HP because they dont add all this extra software. I could just load the drivers and windows 10 found the printer. Brother printers have letters DNW. D means device printing, N means plugs into a router for network printing and W means it can attach to the network via wi-fi which is good if the printer will not be near an ethernet port. This printer is just DN and thats probably why the price was so good.

I have used this now for over 3 months. It is very quiet and very fast. Duplex also works great!

This printer was defective right out of the box. As soon as I plugged it in, a PLEASE WAIT notification started blinking on the LCD screen and a motor kept cycling on and off. The on/off button failed to work. I unplugged the printer, plugged it in again, and the PLEASE WAIT message started blinking along with the brief motor cycling sound. The printer wouldnt connect with my computer, either. I couldnt find anything about this PLEASE WAIT error in the troubleshooting guide, and when I waited online to chat with a tech at the Brother website, I got dumped from the queue after 15 minutes. There is no phone number to call. My last Brother printer was dependable and lasted for nine years. Apparently something has changed and quality control and customer service are no longer priorities.

but this is the second one I bought, I have two now. It is a good printer hands down. Havent tried the wifi, assuming it has it, but I didnt buy it for that, I have two to ethernet, works perfect.

Works great - replaced an ancient HP 4 Plus. Ive adjusted the print density setting which was much too dark at the factory default. It now prints a weekly newsletter beautifully, including photos. Love that it can do legal-size paper and duplex (double-sided) printing.
